My initial reaction is that it's... horrible. Just not good AT ALL. Something about the lion face just looks off.
That "NA" logo? Yeah, terrible idea. I've already seen a lot of opposing teams call us "NAU". That won't help.
And WHY do they keep trying to make us purple and white???

Didn't you make the argument a few months ago that we should go BACK to emphasizing "UNA" now that the transition is over? It's unique in D1, and obviously what 99% of the fanbase and just the population in general knows the school as. Instead of that, it seems we are leaning even harder into "North Alabama" and apparently rebranding our color scheme to purple and white. Why are we trying to force a round peg into a square hole?

Unless I'm having smoke blown at me, we will still have the gold. They was just showing the new logo and font.
I don't think anything was wrong with the old lion head. Hate the new one.
But I kinda like the new NA overlap.
I think that would look good on a baseball cap, or on the side of a helmet.

At least they kept North Alabama, I can't remember if I posted here or not, but it wasn't long ago, they even thought about changing the name of the University as a whole. Alabama Tech was a big consideration.

Do y'all remember the old N logo? It was an N with Alabama across it...
I like the NA a lot better.

The rancher in me would call it the Lazy Z on a Swingset. Guess it's a good thing I'm not a rancher. Lion is ok, like what we had better. Surely gold remains?

Do y'all remember the old N logo? It was an N with Alabama across it... I like the NA a lot better. See I actually like the "N over Alabama" logo more than the NA. It's just so generic. Almost appears to be an afterthought, like the last couple of days of the process they remembered they had to squeeze it in and that's the result. Why couldn't it be an interlocking "UNA" instead? Or do something subtle where the U is in negative space. Something more creative. I know judging these things is always subjective, but the logos just aren't doing it for me at all. And you SAY we will still have gold, and they are just showing these new logos. But you know we've had discussions on this board for years about how gold has been minimized in logos and uniforms. I thought we had actually seen a change in direction on that (for the better), and was hoping Looney was driving it. Now I'm not so sure. Maybe this process started before he got to UNA. Perhaps Linder directed the people in charge to go purple and white (if he was the one responsible for the lack of gold). I don't know. But it's frustrating that we have to keep bringing up this topic. There's no good reason to continue to use purple and white, though I have a sneaking suspicion that somehow money has something to do with it. Because, when does it not? They don't call us FANatics for nothing. Probably stupid to get bent out of shape over these things, but it is what it is.

I’d love to know how much they paid for this. Thousands, I’m sure.
I could have done better with the free version of Canva.
It’s sooooooo generic.

Not a fan of the new lion head at all, just leave the old one? The NA looks so basic to me. Seems like every school has some sort of logo like that. Gold seems to be on its way out. Don’t think they’d post a logo without any gold knowing a lot of fans want MORE gold, unless they were weeding it out. Could be wrong, just my opinion of what I’ve been seeing.

I emailed the athletic department today.
Gold will remain, but they are just rolling out the logos in Purple and white until they can agree on a standard Gold that the University as a whole uses and not just the athletic dept.
The current Gold is Vegas gold, but they are looking at different shades.

The current gold is what the internal staff calls “sand gold” and I love it compared to using yellow hues for gold. Continuing to change the shades of these principle school colors is terrible for branding.

But I agree with them that everyone at UNA needs to use the same colors. Also, part of the reason for the new branding, is all sports can rep the same logos on Uniforms instead of baseball and softball having the diagonal UNA and football using what they used. From what I understand is the lion will be used for the football field, basketball court, and on various signs, apparel and so on. The NA will be used on hats, helmets and so on. (Of course, that can change.)
