Everything I've seen posted on social media the last few days - pictures, videos, anything that includes the new logo... it's all been purple and white. Not a trace of gold to be found.
Now, they can SAY this is just until they decide on a standard shade of gold. Maybe it is. But we have discussed on this board for 4+ years how gold has been minimized on uniforms and marketing material. There seems to be a push from *someone* or multiple someones to mostly be purple and white across the board.
I guess it probably bothers me more than it should. But I've always been a uniform fanatic. I've been a long-time reader of blogs that focus on uniform details in sports. So this kind of thing really strikes a chord with me.
I just don't understand why they want to go with bland white over gold. I always say "follow the money", so maybe that truly is what's happening here. I remember Mark Linder telling me years ago in an email that adidas "didn't have a template" that included purple and gold - which of course makes you wonder why we'd sign with adidas in the first place, but I digress. Perhaps it truly comes down to adidas being unable (too lazy? too cheap?) to provide us with gold (though they obviously do on things like the football pants...). I don't know.
I'm interested in seeing what (if any) changes are made to the football uniforms.

Honestly, who would go through all the effort and trouble to come up with a new brand, and then release it out to the public, without knowing what the final color scheme is going to be. Rocket science is not needed to realize gold is an afterthought, at best, with regard to the logo. Looking at the "swing set" logo, well it needs some help in my opinion. A secondary color of our gold might aid, but the design does not appear too easily lend itself to a secondary color. Maybe either the N or the Z could be the secondary color but I can't visualize it being anything to write home about. Why was this done in a vacuum? Sounds like another opportunity missed to get fan involvement and activity. Oh well, reckon I should just roll with the flow and quit griping.

UNA gets uniforms plain from them and they have their own screen print people to add logos and numbers... After the email exchange I had in regards to gold being standardized among the university, I also had a talk with one of the coaches. The logos are going to be standardized across the Athletic Department meaning, coaches will no longer have a say in the uniform and color scheme. Looney apparently don't like that softball used mostly grey and black, basketball had a different color gold, when they would use it. And several different UNA logos being used. (Honestly, myself and I think y'all didn't like it either) So he is trying to standardize the dept and the school as much as possible. Now, I've been told that Gold will be used and it's not going anywhere, but what I was told will change, no more black, no more grey.

Now, I've been told that Gold will be used and it's not going anywhere, but what I was told will change, no more black, no more grey. Well yeah, I knew the adidas thing was BS back then. Washington was an adidas school at the time, and obviously they had purple and gold. I don't know how those contracts work, MAYBE Washington had some exclusive deal for "purple and gold", but then you'd think changing Pantone xxx to Pantone xxy would be enough to get around that. But who knows. I always assumed it was Pujol choosing purple and black for the road basketball jersey, Cozart choosing purple/black/gray/whatever, etc. It was just easier for Linder to blame the mean corporation than it was the coaches. So standardization across the board and removing the coaches from the decision making is probably a good thing. They can say they're keeping gold all they want, but actions speak louder. There's no reason why the decision on which shade of gold to use couldn't have been made in time for the logo switch. Or, delay the logo change until that decision is made. At the end of the day I'm not any less of a fan over this, but until I hear a very good reason why they are pushing all this purple and white, it just looks like a stupid change for change sake.

Linder had a silly excuse every time he didn’t do his job. So glad he’s gone.
I’m also on board with halting the use of colors and logos that aren’t part of the standard branding specs. Now, we just need a set standard that actually includes all of the school colors.
I’m not sure why we constantly have to hold these folk’s hands in Florence.
It gets frustrating.

Had a talk with someone on the city council... It's mostly the old people in various roles around the city that have stupid issues. One of the council members (will not say who in case it is a friend or related) tried his best to get one of the best tax base business downtown shut down just because he had a beef with the owner. When mentioned to the other council members, they declined and told him that this is a major tax base and it would be a detriment to the city. His response, "I don't care about this city, I want it shut down." That's the kind of people who get elected in Florence....

Maybe some of our folks are color blind? Love those Huskies colors…really sharp. At least we are not Penn State fans…ugly. I know those are deep long standing traditional colors, still ugly traditional colors.

They are literally to the point of altering the color levels in tweets to “wash out” the gold. It’s infuriating, and so damn stupid.

I called again and was assured that Gold will be back, but a different shade. Meaning it probably won't be this year.. Boo! I like Vegas gold. I was afraid of that, though. I've been thinking one of the reasons for emphasizing purple and white would to be different from Central Arkansas (purple and black) and Lipscomb (purple and yellow "gold"). But if we switch back to a yellow-er shade of gold, there goes that theory. Purple and white is just too bland. No offense to Micah, of course.

Can’t be yellow…not our color and surely we have people over with enough discretion and taste to make the right decision.

Love or hate the new logos, they finally got rid of the short stripes on the helmets... That is a win in my book.
