All the Louisiana schools may be reaching out. Those are recent to my knowledge. There is also some speculation that the sun belt may be booting Ark Little Rock. None of those LA schools excite me really. Me either...lol

I think McNeese has a solid enough program, at least in football, that they can be an asset to the conference. The others are probably not as “attractive”, for whatever that’s worth.
I just wonder how Central Arkansas feels about adding some of those schools. Did their reason for leaving the Southland have more to do with the LA schools and the weaker Texas schools “dragging down the conference”, or because they saw the stronger Texas schools leaving and didn’t want to be on a sinking ship? It’s probably not good form to upset a school that just joined your conference by adding schools they were trying to get away from. But, it could be they were simply getting out while the getting was good.
I’d prefer the ASUN add at least two more schools for next year. Even then we’d only have six conference games, but that can work. I’m just not too interested in a scenario where we are forced to playing some teams twice, as the Southland will be doing this year.

McNeese is being considered for an invite from what Im being told... Don't know the timeline.
Also hearing more rumors of North Florida seriously considering adding football to the mix. They have done sided stadium that holds 10k already. It wouldn't take much to make it a great stadium for FCS.
If this is true, the ASUN would only need 1 more for 14/8, and at that point I would try to get West Florida for sure.

It was a good game for the most part and their stadium looked good on the broadcast. Ed Orgeron’s son is their QB. Tonight they meet in Baton Rouge.

Just saw that Austin Peay will likely make an announcement to join the ASUN very soon.

Just saw that Austin Peay will likely make an announcement to join the ASUN very soon. Talking about a loaded FCS conference in football…wow. We will definitely need to get recruiting rolling. Hopefully we find a few hidden gems that needed that extra year to grow and develop. We better build up facilities, add to coaching assistants, and finish strong this year. Schedule is about to get even tougher.

If I would have said 5 years ago that we would be in a conference like this, would y'all had been happy? I know most people wanted the OVC but I honestly thought the ASUN fit UNA better than any other conference. The Big South was kinda just okay to me, but it all worked out.
I can't wait to see more good games in Florence. Gonna be fun...

I can't wait to see more good games in Florence. Gonna be fun... I wanted the OVC, but mostly just to have the ability to play some "local" teams, and especially JSU. I have never been excited about the Big South, since most schools are in the Carolinas. But you're right... it worked out. With APU on board, I'd like to see two more changes. First I'd like to see Liberty move on, since honestly, their budget allows them to outspend basically every other school in the conference. Yeah I know, we should be trying to beat them instead of pushing them out. I just think the reality is they don't fit in with the rest of us. Once they're out, bring in two additional football schools. Having 14 teams is probably not ideal, but I think 8 is the number we need for football to be stable.

Well this is interesting, saw it first over on the CSN boards. Man, having VSU and UWG come up would be great, IMO. And I honestly think if one commits to doing it the other will almost be forced to as well.

From Matt Brown's newsletter: I asked around, and can confirm that the ASUN has engaged in vetting with Queens University (a non-FB playing D-II school in Charlotte) and Valdosta State. I was also told that another school on the ASUN radar is West Florida, a D-II conference-mate of Valdosta State and West Georgia. Before COVID, the ASUN had conversations with some of these programs and initially planned on looking at D-II schools to reach their original goal of a 20-team league, but COVID and budget crunches changed those plans in the short term.
There's no immediate timetable for adding any D-II callups, and ASUN administrators will want to monitor the realignment landscape, to see if other potential FCS options present themselves.www.extrapointsmb.com/sources-austin-peay-likely-to-join-asun-perhaps-as-soon-as-next-week/

I think Valdosta makes sense... I like West Georgia but they are basically in KSUs back yard and I don't think KSu would allow that. Queens? ? I say Valdosta and West Florida and call it a day, its like a GSC on steroids at that point. Then hope that North Florida actually starts football... The best case ASUN Bellarmine EKU* Lipscomb APSU* Central Ark* UNA* JSU* KSU* VSU* West Florida* North Florida** JU Stetson FGCU And if 16 is why the goal is add Little Rock and McNeese. I think that's a great FCS conference and a good all sports conference...

Lincoln Memorial is basically like Bellarmine. They are a powerhouse in D2 hoops. The Railsplitters were actually in the GSC from 1992 to 2006.

Just minutes from Cumberland Gap national park. I was up there a few years ago. Actually drove past LMU not realizing it was even in that area. Still, they seem like a strange add, unless the conference wants to keep football and non-football schools an equal number and are attempting to get to 8 for both.
