Per source Chattanooga is out... After the inaugural full season of ASUN football, Austin Peay and West Florida will be invited for 14. Also, for all sports, the ASUN is going East and West divisions... East Liberty KSU Jacksonville North Florida Stetson FGCU West EKU Bellarmine Lipscomb UCA UNA JSU My guess, and that’s all it is, is that UTC couldn’t convince ETSU and Western Carolina to come with them. And they probably didn’t want to leave the SoCon without them. It’s a shame, because it’s such a natural fit for the conference. Still, Austin Peay and UWF would be good fits.

Tough road to the playoffs, but at least if we make the playoffs we should be battle tested. Playoffs? Playoffs? Speaking of playoffs….would be nice to know if we will be able to participate in the postseason this season. We have a lot of announcements coming….hopefully.

I’ve been trying to find out when this vote will be held. The calendar of their meetings on their website didn’t help much. Wasn’t seeing anything mentioned in press coverage of recent meetings and votes.

My prediction on the ASUN for football for the next 5 years....
After this season, Western Illinois leaves for the OVC and Austin Peay joins the ASUN.
West Florida then joins the ASUN.
Putting ASUN football at 7 for the inaugural ASUN football season.
Within 5 years, North Florida starts football bringing us to 8. They will play, like West Florida, in Jacksonville's minor league baseball stadium until a stadium solution is achieved.
The ASUN will then add 2 more schools for a 16/10 setup. Two 8 school divisions for all sports and 10 football schools.

Good read here... www.extrapointsmb.com/what-im-hearing-and-reading-about-conference-realignment-from-the-aac-to-the-asun/Doesn't sound like Austin Peay is as much in the running for the ASUN as we had thought. Interesting that they could be looking at other conferences. I guess the SoCon would make the most sense, as there's still the notion it is more "prestigious" than the little ol' ASUN. But maybe the Southland is pitching them an offer to try to be their savior? The Southland is desperate for more schools. Of course, if the article is right and the ASUN is looking at McNeese, that could be the death blow to the Southland. Which means if that IS the other conference Austin Peay is looking at, it would be a race to see what happens first. Honestly, I'd probably be ok with adding McNeese and maybe Southeastern LA. Louisiana has way more high school talent than Tennessee does, and this would give the conference an "in" to those recruits. That would give West Florida a few more years to build their brand, but I'm sure the door would remain open for them to move up if/when they're ready.

I could see the Southland acquired the ASUN Florida schools and add D2 West Florida and have an East & West Division.

This is the Southern Conference......... PS... AP is not headed to the SoCon.

If those did, no Southeast Louisiana ? Interesting that we are playing both Nichols and Southeast LA this season.
