Had an interesting conversation last night. Happy fathers day also... From an APSU guy I've became friends with, He is being told from APSU officials that the ASUN is looking at 3 schools to replace Liberty, JSU, and KSU. 2 with football and 1 non football. He also is hearing the WAC is pushing another's school to start football. He said the UAC thinks it will be better for the future to have divisions (ASUN side and WAC side) with a set amount of cross over games to help travel even more. So in order to do that, both sides need 6 schools each. He also heard that the UAC schools are discussing a separate exit fee, meaning not only would you pay a WAC or ASUN exit fee, but also a UAC exit fee. The replacement numbers and regionals concept are basically in line with that recent report that the UAC was vetting UWF and VSU. But Matt Brown and at least one other sportswriter didn’t think it was accurate. Maybe it is or maybe just not with UWF/VSU.

But Matt Brown and at least one other sportswriter didn’t think it was accurate. Maybe it is or maybe just not with UWF/VSU. I have to think that it's true. Neither VSU (who in the past was dead set against moving) or UWF (who's fans are getting more and more vocal about moving to D1) have denied this like they have in the past. I have emailed both parties, and unlike the past when I have gotten negative responses, this time the responses have been "We are keeping up with current landscape of college sports, especially in our region, to see what the best situation for out institution is." That was from VSU. And let's not forget UWG, who have also been vocal about it. Mr. Luck has even said in interviews that FBS is a long way down the road and the UAC members are committed to making the UAC the premier FCS football conference. So that tells me that those schools are very much in the running. As for non football, I think the top runner is Tampa. If you look at the core of the ASUN, in which I think we will end up being part of the core, it's the Florida schools and Lipscomb. Hoping the UAC thing goes as plan, the UNA, APSU, EKU and UCA would be considered "core". And hopefully the 3 that gets invited. I don't see Queens staying very long just because of geography.

Talking about the WAC, I wonder if UT-Arlington is getting serious about re-starting their football team. With the market they're in I'm sure FBS could be something they seem themselves being able to accomplish. It would make a lot of sense. I feel like the 3 Gulf South teams are in a standoff. One might be able to make the move up without the others, but if 2 go, the other one almost has to. Would or could the ASUN take all 3? Or would someone have to go to the OVC or Southland?

Southern Utah Top to bottom, I look at these names and see a very competitive conference. I also think the number 7 team is hard for folks to get a handle on to rank. Thinking we will be competing for the top. Is it football season yet!

Think game one will tell us a lot about where we stand in conference and on a national scale. I wouldn’t be surprised if this team pulls off a victory in game one. I also wouldn’t be surprised if they lose in a close battle to a solid Mercer football program.

UNITED ATHLETIC CONFERENCE FOOTBALL PARTNERING WITH HIGHLAND GROWTH STRATEGIES Story LinksDALLAS, Texas - The United Athletic Conference (UAC) has announced a partnership with Highland Growth Strategies to manage UAC's media and commercial rights as it begins play in fall 2023 as the newest Division I FCS conference. UAC Executive Director Oliver Luck, a well-respected and experienced professional in collegiate and professional football as well as in NCAA administration, has been charged with leading this new and unique venture to help the 10 UAC member institutions capitalize on the tremendous growth potential around college football. "We are a newly created league with an entrepreneurial spirit committed to driving value for our members and partners within an ever-changing college landscape," said Luck. "I needed a trusted and respected commercial rights firm that shared those values and one that could build the league's media and commercial rights platform to deliver maximum return to the companies that choose to invest in us. Highland Growth Strategies is clearly the right fit for our league." With the addition of Highland, the UAC continues to focus on acquiring seasoned industry leaders to create a strong and successful football league. The partnership reconnects Luck with Highland founder David Johnston, as the two previously worked together during Luck's tenure as director of athletics at West Virginia. At that point, Johnston was leading his first entrepreneurial sports venture (Rockbridge Sports Group), which was acquired by Outfront Media in 2016. Johnston brings more than 25 years of sports industry and collegiate multimedia rights experience to the UAC, having served as president of Outfront/Playfly Sports Properties prior to founding Highland. "I am grateful to Executive Director Luck and to the leadership of the UAC member institutions for the opportunity to be part of this exciting new enterprise, one committed to creativity and innovation to compete and win on the field," stated Johnston. "We plan to bring that same level of creativity to our corporate partners by launching a number of 'first ever' platforms that represent the future of corporate sponsorship engagement in college football." In addition to the partnership with Highland, the UAC announced the appointment of Ward Wyatt to serve as its chief commercial officer. Wyatt brings 22 years of collegiate commercial rights experience to the UAC, having worked previously with Johnston as general manager of LSU Sports Properties and as vice-president of Outfront/Playfly Sports Properties. "The conference presenting partner platform will be the first of its kind in college athletics, delivering unique brand building, NIL and fan engagement assets across the conference footprint," said Wyatt. "I look forward to working with the entire UAC leadership team to find partners who want to invest in the future of college football and college athletics." Wonder if we'll see a new home uni revealed at some point this week, especially for those "promo photos" that are on the schedule? Dearmon posted that pic of the road jersey a couple of months ago (with yellow gold), but I don't think we've seen the home set yet.

Crazy that we are still seeing issues at this point. In my industry it seems like some of the shortages we saw the past few years are starting to ease up some. Except buying trucks, those still seem impossible to get.
