I’m just hoping we can run the football. We can bash the QBs about turning the ball over all we want, I’ve been the worst, but it’s very difficult to not throw interceptions when you’re throwing the ball 40 times a game and the defense knows it’s coming. Also with the o-line struggles we’ve had on top of that… Gipson or Files will start. They’re the best 2 without question. If Files can cut down turnovers, he plays. He’s the best passer out of all the QBs and it’s not close (Was told this straight from offensive coach). If not they like Gipson’s run element that allows them to do more than Files in the run game. I’ve heard Oklahoma transfer will help us in the future also. Only a redshirt freshman. I agree on the run game... Got to be able to hurt defenses with the run and put them away with the ability to pass. And I'm hearing the same thing about QB situation. Having multiple QBs is a necessity out of fear for Willis... Y'all remember when all of our QBs was injured and had to use our best WR to play QB... Yeah, I'm sure Willis don't want that again. Also, just speaking from 3rd hand info, the Coaches, mostly Willis, and the returning players say they feel different this year... Hopefully that translates into wins and the playoffs....

Brandon you are correct. Willis knows we’ve been bitten by the injury bug a few too many times for his liking at QB. This is why Oklahoma transfer was brought in. Has nothing to do with us not having a good starting QB, just precautionary.

Chattanooga was selected by both the media and the coaches to win the SoCon.
Anyone seen anything about the MVFC? I wonder how good Indiana State is expected to be. They were 5-6 last year, but had a win over Eastern Kentucky.

Spoke to a Tennessee Tech alum today. I said we play you guys this year. He promptly responded we have nothing to fear. He said the approach by the officials there is to improve the facilities without improving the coaches or the team. People are puzzled why home attendance is only around 2500. Winning will help, people get tired of going and watching their school get handled. I told him the last few years for us has been very hard. Ready for this season, we have potential if we can stop the run.

They were 5-6 last year, but had a win over Eastern Kentucky. Media day poll had them 10th of 11. We found a way to lose that one last year at the end. Squib kick in the last minute hit their wall and they recovered in our territory. Scored TD on the last play of the game.

UNA badly needs a win in that opener. Obviously. It sure would be nice to be 3-1 heading into conference play.

We have 2 MAC games (EMU and BGSU) before Charleston Southern at home.

Predictions for this season: I'm more of a realist/pessimist view, and I see a 4-7 season, and then a coaching change will happen...
An Absolute best scenario would be 6-5, and the team is showing improvement and competing within the conference. If they finish 5-6, what does the administration do? Another losing season, but do they change coaches? If another losing season, that would be 4 straight losing seasons, same thing happened 1999-2002; then shortly after, they went on a run of 8 of 9 seasons with winning 9 or more games.

I feel like 7 wins is attainable this year. Anything above 7 wins would be welcomed and a little surprising. We need Driggers to be recovered and healthy, which hopefully by now he is back to full strength. Bland stays healthy and oline continues to improve, and I expect more consistency from quarterbacks. I think an awful year is anything less than 6 wins.

I think an awful year is anything less than 6 wins. What have you seen from this coaching staff, organization, schedule, and team makes you think 7 wins is attainable? Running backs will be one of the worst position groups for this team. One of the main problems is that you say quarterbacks with a "s." There should be 1 guy maybe 2 in special goal line/running situations. Not having the main QB is not good for the QB room or the offense period to develop chemistry.
