Cross Country teams for B18 are legit cross country. How sustainable is it for Oregon Washington to travel volleyball, soccer, golf, cross country from the west coast to the east coast? Sustainable isn't an issue for the schools in these conferences... the only reason they have those sports is for D1 requirements and title 9... Football, basketball and media money fund it all.

So... I've always been on the bandwagon of supporting local...
On the record, I hate the way the realignment is going. I think regionalism is what makes college sports...
But for the first time I'm actually proud that the SEC has not went beyond the South...

As of right now, it seems to me that the end of the line for conference realignment may be near.
If the PAC wanted to replenish they could easily, but as of now, they are not inviting anyone from the MWC or American.
Could this mean the PAC is dead? If so, does FBS pull up a conference from FCS to keep the same amount of conferences?
Could this somehow solidify the remaining FCS to not consider FBS?
Or will the FCS and G5 combine?

We're seeing the consolidation of the larger programs into two or three conferences. The talk lately is that a new semi-pro entity (possibly backed by venture capital) will invite a certain amount of these teams to break away from the NCAA in football. I started a thread on CSNbbs about it. Click here for it: Conference Pangea

Funny how some criticized the UAC for stretching from Utah to Alabama. Doesn’t look so crazy now.
If I were a student athlete at Cal or Stanford I’d be livid at the thought of making multiple cross-country flights. I’m talking mostly Olympic sports, which those schools have a lot of. Obviously the education those schools offer is great, but I do wonder if it will hurt their recruiting some.
I’m still curious to see what happens if/when we lose a conference here. If the remaining 2 PAC members merge with the Mountain West, what happens to that playoff “spot”? I speculated a month ago whether the UAC could somehow “buy” that spot. It’s probably still a long shot, but I do wonder if it’s somehow possible. I’m guessing the folks involved have at least looked into that.

I'm a bit surprised. I got the impression they thought they were "too good" for CUSA. Of course, I'm judging that based on things I've read online, so that was probably my first mistake. Now the million ($5 million?) dollar question will be, who is their #12? There's no way they'll stay at 11. Will EKU get the invite, or will they try to get someone like UMass or UConn to help give Delaware more of a northeastern rivalry? Selfishly I hope they stay away from the UAC, but I can certainly be happy for EKU if they get the call this time. Meanwhile, stinks to see FCS lose possibly 2 more top programs. We're not too far away from essentially being the D2 of the 80s/90s as far as the teams at the top. Of course, that's not necessarily a BAD thing. Just funny to see the "drift".

The main rumblings today are that it will be UMass. But, now someone saying Matt Brown is reporting will be a team in the west. Yet, I do NOT see that on his Twitter or today’s newsletter. So, who knows.

Sam Houston pushing for SFA? Or maybe CUSA taking a chance that Tarleton will grow into a power?

So, I'm wondering if the options continue to dwindle for the MAC, will they get over their FCS hang-up and invite EKU?

FWIW, I saw where Matt Brown said he'd be very surprised if CUSA doesn't add UMass.
They'll be rivaling the B1G as far as how much ground the conference covers. Massachusetts to southern New Mexico. Jeez.

Honestly, I'm glad we aren't a part of that...
Football that far is one thing, but all sports? The conference isn't making the kind of money for the schools to justify that imo.
