So, uh... first part of that process I talked about?

They are sick to death over all of the rumors on the CUSA board on CSNbbs! LOL. It literally went from "we're so excited about this season" to "the end is near" within days.

I don't actually think this ends with the UAC somehow moving "en masse" to FBS.
But if it did? Man, it would be hilarious.

I don't actually think this ends with the UAC somehow moving "en masse" to FBS. But if it did? Man, it would be hilarious. I have a little different thought about how it will happen. Scenario, TV and the NCAA just let's the PAC die by coming out and saying, no more FCS to FBS moves. (Of course it could let the MWC die if the PAC hurries to pick them off.) We all know that media drives the market. The reason I think that CUSA should stay at 10 for a while so they can build up a following. That way they may eventually have a better media deal. What they have now is a FCS conference with more scholarships. That's not a knock, it's just what it is. I also think this is the reason that the NCAA didn't go ahead and make the UAC recognized as an official conference. If the UAC would have never stated publicly that the goal is to move to FBS as a whole, I think it would have been recognized. I also think that's the reason Luck keeps publicly saying the we are focused on FCS. So at this point, if the NCAA does accept the UAC, I would also anticipate their being something put into act that says no more FCS to FBS movement.

The APSU AD isn’t happy with the UAC deal. From D1.ticker: Austin Peay AD Gerald Harrison says the $5M fee to move from FCS to FBS is less of a issue than improving the Governors’ facilities and points to what Jackson State and Florida State did to their respective football stadiums as examples of what APSU could do to make The Fort the “best little stadium in America.” The earliest Harrison foresees a potential FBS move is 2025, but he notes there is no timeline in place. Furthermore, Harrison says he has no preference for which FBS conference he would like to join but stated that he wasn’t thrilled that the ASUN merged with the WAC to create the United Athletic Conference, noting the Governors joined the ASUN to play ASUN football. mainstreetmediatn.com/articles/mainstreetclarksville/austin-peay-ad-and-vp-gerald-harrison-discusses-universitys-athletics-future-and-updates/

But what do you do? Play with no AQ spot?

But what do you do? Play with no AQ spot? Personally, I think it's petty to put his feelings on it out in the open like this. EKU probably has the best chance at being the next to grab an FBS spot, and to my knowledge they haven't said anything in public about disappointment with the UAC. Would APSU rather still be in the OVC? Other than the SoCon, the UAC is absolutely the best option for our schools right now. I think the potential is there to have some high-level competition. Other than an invite from CUSA, what would make them happy? Sure, it would've been nice to pull some closer schools into the ASUN, but you can't force anyone to join. I think the WAC schools are a decent compromise. I'd sure rather play them than Gardner-Webb.

There is no reason to air out your stuff especially when it was a unanimous vote to do it.

The way it is in D2 right now, I fully expect West Florida and Valdosta to be on their heels...
Delta, Mississippi College, and West Alabama may be looking to partner up with the LSC for football...

I'm gonna go ahead and say it...
The UAC will be great if we get the remaining 3 from the GSC, West Georgia, West Florida and Valdosta...
The ASUN side would have 7
And the WAC side would have 6 (possible 7) and we could have divisions.
The way the GSC is right now and the bleak future of it in football, I fully expect those two to join in the next few years.

West Georgia will be a great fit in the ASUN/UAC, and I’m fine with them coming, but man… I don’t like seeing the GSC die. Obviously it won’t right away, but they are starting to get dangerously low on numbers. And I just can’t see a scenario where this doesn’t force Valdosta and UWF to go ahead and make the move.
One day the eastern division of the UAC might be “GSC 2.0”.
