From a reliable source....
CUSA, WAC AND ASUN are working together...
CUSA is eventually getting all the ASUN football schools over a period of time.
When this happens, the WAC will take back their spot on FBS. New Mexico State and UTEP will move to the WAC.
The ASUN will drop FCS football, because nobody will play football in the ASUN at that point.... (Gumbart will be the new commissioner of CUSA)
What I have heard from 3 different people from 2 different schools athletic clubs today...

CUSA at some point,(before or after all the ASUN schools come) will invite Chattanooga and SFA to make 14 schools with 2 divisions, east and west. (Protected Games) (or permanent crossover)
West
Western Kentucky (EKU) UCA (Liberty) Austin Peay (Chattanooga) UNA (JSU) SHSU (MTSU) SFA (KSU) La Tech (FIU)
East
Liberty (UCA) Eastern Kentucky (WKU) MTSU (SHSU) Chattanooga (APSU) JSU (UNA) KSU (SFA) FIU (LaTech)
Each school will play 7 permanent games(6 division +1 out of division) and 2 non permanent crossover games for 9 total conference games every year.

That would be a great conference, at whatever level it's on. Could we COMPETE in it? That's another question. But with what NIL has already become, who can predict how anything will work out?
I'd rather not be in a conference with Liberty long-term, I know that. They will be able to outspend every other school in that group. Probably every other school combined.
Is there ANY news on a stadium? Are we going to allow another season to pass with no updates to Braly, and no information on if/when a new stadium will be built? It's beyond ridiculous that we are now full D1 members and still don't have a plan.

The musical chairs get me so confused. Who would all be in the WAC at that point?
The WAC FCS football in 2023:
ACU Incarnate Word (coming from Southland) SFA (who you predict would leave for CUSA) Southern Utah (coming from Big Sky) Tarleton UT-RGV (adding football) Utah Tech (formerly Dixie State)
So, if NMSU and UTEP jump back to the WAC for FBS, that would give them 8 football schools and 14 overall. Interesting.

This rumor hit Twitter via @therevsfa. Calls it insane and asinine. Also said has heard it from outside this board. This board only place it is in text.

This rumor hit Twitter via @therevsfa. Calls it insane and asinine. Also said has heard it from outside this board. This board only place it is in text. I think it needs context. Is Ted Gumbart performing a hostile takeover of CUSA a bit far-fetched? I think it is. Is CUSA intently scouting ASUN (and some WAC) schools a possibility? Of course. Where else will they be able to go if/when they want to add new members? Their current schools are mostly in the southeast. They almost HAVE to look at southeastern FCS schools to reload with, because they definitely aren't pulling anyone from FBS. I think the most likely scenario in 3-5 years is that CUSA brings up a few more ASUN/WAC schools. Who? Probably whoever commits to spending the most money. When that dust settles, you'll still have ASUN and WAC Olympic conferences, but possibly (probably?) a football conference similar to the MVFC. It'll contain a southeast division and a "west" division. Could Gumbart be the commissioner of that? Sure. I don't really think UNA will get the call-up. I just don't think we have the money to do it. I'd personally rather just focus on a new football stadium and competing for FCS championships. And just FWIW, this is no slight to Brandon or his sources... this is all just MY opinion.

But I can stop posting what I hear if that is what's needed.

So I'm sure y'all have seen the EKU vs OVC deal...
What I can say about the situation now that it's out in public (didn't want to want to put what I've heard 3rd party out as related to the situation)
As some of you know, either through postson hear or DMs, I've been taking to numerous people about everything from UNA moving to other joining the ASUN.
This is what I know from this happening, JSU, Austin Peay, EKU, Tenn St, Tenn Tech and SEMO all wanted the OVC and ASUN to join together, in all sports. The ASUN was accepting but the rest of the OVC was not, mostly Murray St and Belmont. They wanted to form a super conference and eventually petition the NCAA to move the OVC into FBS status based on merit of the OVC being one of the oldest D1 conferences. (Certain schools would not have went to FBS and stayed FCS)
When that got shot down, it created another distain from the schools that take football seriously in the OVC. On top of frustration from prior years when UNA didn't get invited.
So then COVID hit, and the OVC went against the will of the schools with scheduling. EKU and JSU had enough and decided to join the ASUN.
This is the reason I think Tenn St, Tech, and SEMO are all on the list to join the ASUN. It is also why I'm shocked JSU pulled the trigger so fast on CUSA.
And in regards to CUSA, yes, they are looking at all current ASUN members that play football, including us. Will we get invited? Who knows, but I do know they have contacted UNA several time and CUSA ADs and commissioner have been on campus along with ASUN ADs and Gumbart at the same time. We have also been to a couple of CUSA schools to meet.
That's what I know... Or have been told.
