I’m almost convinced the NCAA has already laid out goals for the WACSUN to meet on the way to moving FBS, and that the schools all expect those goals to be met. Otherwise, it will be incredibly embarrassing to be making moves such as this today without any kind of payoff. We’d be the laughing stock of both the FCS and the FBS. Yep. Exactly. These presidents (not just ours!) are not going to say all this stuff publicly only to get egg on their faces. This has obviously been discussed and planned out with the NCAA.

Made the mistake of reading a thread about Luck being hired on the main CSN board. I just don't get it. If I were a fan of a team already in FBS, I'd just shrug and say "whatever they want". But those people are angry. It really doesn't make any sense. None of us get upset about D2 teams joining FCS.
If I had to make a prediction, the first FBS season will be 2025, to go along with UT-Rio Grande Valley's first season. Just seems like a clean starting point. But I don't pretend to know anything.

Elitist who don't want anything other than what they have... Yeah probably so. What really cracks me up are the JSU fans that talk crap about the original ASUN plan to go FBS, and now this one. Like, guys... you were part of it! If not for Texas and Oklahoma joining the SEC and starting this whole chain of events, they'd be in the exact same position we are. It's just so strange. Some people that have absolutely zero awareness.

So I just read the interview Matt Brown had with Luck.
The most important takeaway I had is
The rule about new FBS conferences was put in place to keep new AQs from happening in sports other than football. With the partnership, no other AQs will happen, so no reason the can't move to FBS if all schools involved agree to it.
Same goes for any other current FCS conference.

Thanks for sharing! So, July 1, 2025 is the goal to move the conference to FBS. Luck will be on each campus to do an audit and provide a plan for FBS readiness over the next year.

The folks are starving for clicks, I realize, but here's another article about how CUSA should invite all of the UAC.
However, it's interesting that it was written by a WKU grad and the current MTSU Football Director of Recruiting.

I don’t think UNA is “ready” for FBS, as in, being called up to CUSA as one of 2 teams or whatever. But if the entire conference went? I think you’ve argued this yourself. It puts a lot of teams on equal footing, so to speak, all adjusting to FBS at the same time. In that CUSA scenario, we would essentially be taking the Sun Belt route of building a conference on the back of great rivalries. I’m perfectly content to stay FCS for the long haul and compete for championships (hopefully), IF most of the UAC stays together with us. I wish we had a crystal ball to see the next 5 or 10 years. That being said, if CUSA reached out tomorrow and asked to do a full merger, I’d take them up on the offer. Yeah, we’d never win a national title probably ever again. But the season would sure be fun.

I mean, that very thing has been rumored since all this ASUN football stuff got going several seasons back. Look back at the OPs on this thread just over a year ago. I'm 100% fine with UNA being in FCS for a while. But, it's just weird that two random outlets put this out within the last week and one of the writers is on the football staff of a CUSA school.

But I just make stuff up...lol

You have a lot of people over on that CSN board, for instance, that absolutely despise the thought of the UAC schools going FBS. It's so strange. It makes them totally irrational.

It’s triggering to certain “gatekeepers” there. It cracks me up. You have one WKU fan that will go crazy over certain rumors or news. He’s spent the last few weeks trying to convince folks that North Dakota State and others are not worthy after they were rumored to be interested in the Mountain West. Those remaining CUSA school fans (and one KSU fan) on there need therapy. Lol.

With Colorado looking like it'll return to the B12, and that likely leading to a PAC that looks a WHOLE lot different, here's a wild scenario...
The B12 takes Colorado and eventually 3 other PAC schools to get to 16. Oregon and Washington, but possibly also Cal and Stanford, are invited to the B1G. Washington State and Oregon State are left holding the PAC bag and have no choice but to invite almost the entire Mountain West into a new PAC. The PAC name won't die since it's still more valuable than the MWC. But with the MWC left with potentially NO members after merging with the PAC (they only have 10 now), they're left with 2 options:
1. Try to rebuild with some group that includes a bunch of Big Sky schools and possible a few of the western CUSA teams, or... 2. Fold the conference and, potentially (maybe?), sell their College Football Playoff and Olympic sport autobid to the highest bidder.
I really don't know the particulars of how #2 would work, but perhaps it could lead to the UAC becoming it's own conference, grabbing the MWC autobid and their CFP spot?
I know this is pretty far-fetched, but 2 years ago, who would've believed the PAC would cease to exist as we know it?
