I'm just interested in everyone's opinion on how this football season will be played IF it is played. Are you thinking no fans, conference only, or a later start? I personally do not see us opening up on that Thursday night against Western Illinois like we are scheduled to right now, but that is obviously a bit above my pay-grade. What are your thoughts???

Think once more student athletes report and testing on campus are completed we will have a lot more information. Will teams be penalized for not playing a game if an outbreak occurs during the season at their campus? So many variables in place now, hopefully the pandemic has its last peak and will start mutating itself into a weaker form?

I think everything hinges on what the P5 does, SEC in particular...
I think they should play. My personal opinion is, if you look at the pandemic in the early 1900's, (it may not be the exact same) peaple attended sporting events with masks, and players played. I also think there is a lot to be said for heard immunity.
If they change anything, as far as the schedule, it could be devastating for lots of schools, even P5 schools. So that should be a last resort.
I know some smaller schools in various divisions and levels have canceled fall sports all together, but honestly, that's probably saving them money.... so its not as bad for them to take a season off.

Read where Hampton will not be having students on campus this fall. Students will be doing online classes instead. Not sure what this does for their football season and our game Nov.14.

I still think it hinges on what happens the rest of this month. Infections are WAY up, but the total number of deaths is at the lowest since this all started. So, either a.) we are going to see deaths explode in the next month, b.) the virus has weakened and people infected now are mostly just experiencing a bad cold (though obviously there are still a lot of life-threatening cases), or c.) the most at-risk people have sadly already passed away and the virus is now infecting mostly healthier people.
If the deaths remain static or continue to fall, I think we will have a season of some kind. Doubt we play all of our scheduled games. I'd say playing all games is a <10% chance at this point. Playing at all, I'll be optimistic and say about 60% chance we will.

Everything P5 does will trickle down. Conference-only looking more and more likely. But this is one of the hardest things you could ever predict. Just like the last three months, all we can do is wait and see.

Can we afford to do conference only without the Virginia Tech and BYU games?? Wondering how much that would put us back?

I doubt we cancel going to Virginia Tech. I imagine we will try to play BYU too. Hawaii trip costs as much as the payout, no real benefit other than getting to go to Hawaii. I can understand canceling that trip. We need the revenue, especially with season ticket sales being quite a bit lower, even with our best home football schedule ever.

Sorry I was referring to Hampton canceling going to Hawaii. I think we try to play both our big games since the costs per game aren’t the same as the costs for Hampton going to Hawaii.

If the season is cancelled, maybe the powers that be will give me the option of donating the monies to the new stadium fund.

Yes I bought my season tickets too. I got the feeling there may not be walk up general admission tickets this year. Wonder how the spacing in Brady stadium will be? Interesting year, let’s hope by season things are closer to normal than today.
