Rather it be Monmouth than anything close. I would hope our administrators are not caught off guard by the news. Communications should be open and flowing during this time between athletic directors in conference and on your schedule. I would think the schools leaning towards cancelling all fall sports have been leaning that way for quite sometime. Monmouth was a home game this season. The virus now seems to be just as contagious albeit with a much lower mortality rate in the south. I was glad it wasn’t a possible rival like KSU or a regional team. Monmouth was a great team last year, not sure many local recruits would be familiar with those guys. We compete in recruiting against the likes of JSU, KSU, Austin Peay, UTC, and state teams directly. No disrespect meant to Monmouth, very good team. |

Your post eluded nothing about recruiting. As for COVID, the South has more serious cases than NJ/NY right now. |

I read that RMU is interested in taking up a Big South schedule this year, so maybe that will plug one hole. I was trying to think of a school that's nearby we could potentially pick up, and noticed that Samford has an open date (Oct 17) on what was the day of our Monmouth game. I wonder if we could work something out? |

We do not need to move to spring. We lose both payout games if we move to spring and we are not able to compete for anything post season. Spring doesn’t fit us.

I agree but I imagine that whatever the MVFC does, the few other conferences still holding out hope will have to follow. Big Sky and PFL moving to spring has put FCS below the 50% threshold to have playoffs in the fall. |

Can't see how the Big South moves forward and plays in a month. Without Western Illinois (MVFC) that leaves us what, 7 games? The money loss is obviously a big deal, but the NCAA (well, them and the other conferences) is basically forcing the hand of the Big South, OVC, SoCon, and Southland at this point.
I wouldn't mind for those four conferences to bind together to create some common schedules, especially since we aren't playing for a championship anyway. Just can't imagine teams like Kennesaw and Jacksonville State would be fine with conceding the playoffs this year.

The spring may be a blessing.
If FBS plays this fall, and FCS plays in the spring, all eyes will be on FCS. May be able to pull TV deals for one season to offset any money losses due to not playing FBS schools.

Basically having years 3/4 of the football transition in 2021. We're one of the few teams that had a full spring camp. Some had nothing. Our team started today at 3:30 for fall camp. We'll just have to see where this goes. The SEC released more guidelines today. They seem to be moving forward. Too much money to lose for P5. |
