All coaches got a raise last year, dont know how much. And are supposed to get a raise every year of the transition. After that it is dependent on performance, and revenue. Brandon sorry to rain on your parade, but this statement you made isn’t true. Maybe the head coaches got a raise.... if that. That's what was told publicly. They said coaches will be paid competitively within the conference starting out, and raises after that based on performance. If they lied, then someone needs to address it and hold them accountable. Now, they didnt say anything about assistant coach pay.

I wish I wasn't a skeptic but due to assistants being paid what amounted to minimum wage and seeing them leave to take non-football jobs so they could support their families is burned into my recent memory. That's where the "looks like a Cadillac but has a Ford Pinto motor" description of of UNA athletics came from. I would love to find out things have changed but....

UNA assistants have NEVER been paid enough and that will have to change if we want to compete.

UNA assistants have NEVER been paid enough and that will have to change if we want to compete. While I agree, have we historically paid lower than average for D2? For the Gulf South Conference? I ask because I don’t know. This is is the thing about moving to D1. We can’t make more money magically appear out of thin air. We need the new stadium(s) ASAP, so we can hopefully rake in some more profit. We also need the “money games” and conference payouts to start. I assume once more cash is coming in, we’ll start to raise those salaries. Of course, we also have to face some realities. We are on the small side for state universities, and have a smallish fan base. I don’t think we will be seeing an NDSU or James Madison budget for a while (if ever). But that doesn’t mean we can’t win football games.

The good thing is, we win, and this ain't just for football, and win consistently, we are the only non-HBCU D1 university in the North Alabama-Tennessee Valley region. That's a lot of potential fans, future students and donors.

I dont know why it posted that twice... Sorry It's like New York. Football and men's basketball pull the wagon that carries all the other sports. Coaches hold the reigns. I'll just keep my fingers crossed that we don't nurture young coaches who then make a lateral move for twice the money.

Just read that UNA is buying the only building that will be left standing on the old ECM property... putting their College of Business in it. So technically, if they built a stadium on the property, it would be on campus.
Although I would like it to be by Flowers, I can see some very distinct advantages to the old ECM property, more room, and more parking. Not to mention there is a huge hole there now, so if they wanted to change the design up a little, put stands in the hole, it would probably cut down on cost and leave even more room for future expansion.

I read that earlier. It's at least interesting that the University is buying it. Hey, it might be the only building available anywhere close to campus that fits their needs. I have no idea. I think the University should buy the entire hospital property even if they don't build a stadium there. It could be used for plenty of other expansion opportunities. Maybe we could build the stadium on-campus, but one day have a swanky indoor practice facility on the ECM site. Or it could be student housing, or a soccer facility, or a new basketball arena, etc., etc. Buy it now before a developer plops down a bunch of McMansions there.

From the TimesDaily this morning...
UNA group could issue stadium report by mid-monthA few positives here, the most obvious one being that we may finally see some movement on this. I was also happy to see that there was a relatively large student vote, and only 15% are against it. That's great. Hopefully nobody at the University will be swayed by opinions like those of the Rotary club members that said to put it somewhere like Cox Creek. Sounds like the type of people that want it built in a field off a four-lane highway so they can park crooked 20 feet from an entrance, plop down in prime seats only to never stand up, and glare at anyone that dares raise their voice above a level that would be suitable in church. I get we need the money some fans like that donate. But if the folks attending games continue to act like that, and leave at halftime after watching the POD perform, we will never make it to the level of NDSU, James Madison, etc. We need an engaged fanbase. At the same time I do realize you need butts in seats in order to generate more revenue, so another difficult parking situation like we have at Braly is not acceptable. There will always be more non-students than students there. They have to figure this out so that parking, stadium ingress/egress, and traffic coming to and leaving the stadium aren't hectic enough to turn people away. I think that's a challenge with the preferred campus site, but not impossible.

If you can get up in the morning from your dorm, take a shower, go get breakfast, beer, order pizza and tailgate on campus right under the shadows of your dorm, maybe they show up??? As for the stadium, it will be built in the best place the school(and the Andersons) need it to be built.

Braly isn't that far of course, but the awful parking is a negative. Kids these days don't want to drive anyway, so if they can walk to the stadium it will bring in more of them. Can't make them be engaged, but it's a start. Speaking of the Andersons, I kept hoping to hear that Keaton would "come home" for his last year of eligibility. But I haven't heard any more on that. Maybe he's done with football altogether.

My concerns about an on-campus stadium are 1st parking, and second would there be an ability to expand. Both Jack State and Troy expanded pretty quickly after they went D1.
