We have one of the most talented young linebackers in the country....he gets way too many warnings and unsportsmanlike penalties. He better find a way to play like a man or he will not be playing here much longer. His immaturity on the Files is embarrassing, talent undeniable, but we have capable backups that do not embarrass the brand. I have a feeling we will see a different lineup next week, hope some coaches step up or they will not be coaching here. Coach was thoroughly disgusted last night, for good reason. By process of elimination, you must be talking about someone that has never had a bad word said about him (to my knowledge) until now. He was our main man all of last year and won awards and praise. He's been the leader this year against SSU, NDSU and A&M. If he had a bad night last night... it happens. From what it sounds like, the whole team (except Carrera) had a bad night of blunders and inconsistent play. Everything got thrown out of whack by the weather. Lion Walk looked like one of the best we've had. Then the storms came. Some times it comes down to who handles that kind of situation the best. I remember a Lions team loaded with FBS players who sucked after an hour weather delay out in Arkansas about nine years ago. It happens. Add to it the other factors Brandon mentioned and you have the recipe for an upset. This wouldn't have been a cakewalk even if the weather had been perfect.

Regardless of talent whether A good player or not 1 unsportsmanlike conduct penalty is bad enough, but to have over 10 probably closer to 20 is just ridiculous.

Whole team was off with the penalties...we have a couple that missed time last year for the exact same things. I hope they find a way to channel that energy somewhere else? Talent is great, but you are part of a team. The selfish 15 yard penalties hurt everyone on your team. I don’t think the last one was a conduct thing by the receiver, he was trying to make a block. Some of the others that are not football related I struggle to understand? I also believe our coaches will get it corrected. We didn’t see it in the first three games this year, have no clue what happened in the last one. Chalk it up as growing pains?

My point of view after getting soaked for 3 hour before kickoff... The Lions looked tired, and not interested. They overall looked like they didn't want to be put there. I understand, everything was playing against the Lions, the Weather, after playing 3 D1 games, gotta play a D2 game, basically empty stands because of the weather. We looked slow and tired to say the least. I was on the Royal Avenue side, I could hear Willis across the way, he was very upset with our players. I was too, not just for they way they played, but the way they carried theirselves in various situations. It was embarrassing. Reminds me of a basketball game between Central and Bradshaw in 1979. Normally played before a packed house in the Dome or the Coliseum, on this night there were only maybe 30 people there due to a snow storm. Almost everyone took it for granted the game would be postponed. It was a surreal atmosphere. It was like being at a practice. Snuffy Smith and Eddie Frost had to whisper to their players because there was no crowd noise whatsoever.
Central had dominated the series with both Bradshaw and Coffee for five years in a row. This Bradshaw team was led by Bill Jones' son, Rex a 6-3 All State guard and a cast of athletic players who never quite lived up to their promise shown in junior varsity. On this night, Rex looked NBA. For the first time in two years, he didn't look burned out. Leading the fast break, dribbling between his legs, firing no-look bullet passes and hitting many bombs that would have been three pointers now in the empty gym. It was one of the greatest performances hardly anyone saw as the Bruins pounded us pretty bad that desolate night. I was sitting in the row right behind Coach Smith and the players when Rex made one of his spectacular plays. As he jogged by I said "showboat." I only said it loud enough for Rex to hear but so did Snuffy. He turned around and shot me a dirty look and said "well he's got a good reason to be."
My point is, Bradshaw handled the circumstance a heckuva lot better than my Cats. It happens.

Ok. I didn't see or hear any of the game until the last three minutes but the TD said we had 10 penalties for 118 yards.

Must have been pretty chippy down there. We were 10 for 118 yards and they were 9 for 95 yards. Sounds like the results you have during a dog days scrimmage. No fans, bad conditions, hot tempers and plenty of fights.

I remember telling my wife, with great concern, the longer the rain delay the more this game would be played as if we were the travel team. Sure enough game starts and ends when it would have in PST. So, there's that. No controlling the weather...unless ya got a dome.

As Roaring said earlier, Damon Cox had a great game! Looks like Riko Morris is becoming more involved in the offense. He had 4 receptions for 56 yards with a long of 23. He also threw and completed one pass for 35 yards. He played QB in JC.
Cortez Hall also stepped up with 75 yards on two catches with a long of 56. Andre Little and Dexter Boykin continue to contribute with 53 and 51 yards respectively. Terrence Humphrey had 61 all-purpose yards.
We are averaging only 20 yards on kickoff returns and 3 yards on punt returns. It would seem we could do better there. We are averaging 28 yards on int. returns.
Looks like we quit keeping defensive stats while Azusa Pacific led 6-3. The only thing I could find was Christon Taylor's fumble (forced by Will Singleton) recovery that he returned 49 yards to the AP 9 yard line but Joshua Amanfo was hit by an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty which moved the Lions back to the 24.

I had some things come up on Saturday and didn't even get a chance to watch the game, or really even stop by the board here yesterday. I had seen the game would be delayed for a couple of hours, and was afraid that we would be sloppy. APU is a good team and obviously came in with no intimidation factor. I would say props to them for hanging tough through all of it, but if they were playing dirty, forget I said that.
I haven't seen it mentioned, but how did Lopez look? I see he had 20 yards rushing, but lost 21, so a net of -1. Is that due to his mobility still being limited, or did APU just do a good job of keeping him in the pocket?

Worst game by the offensive unit so far. We struggled to get first downs early which made finding a rhythm very hard. We could not complete passes early putting us in a lot of 3rd and longs. I think we were 2 for 10 on 3rd down conversions in the first half. At least a running back did score a rushing TD. Humphrey ran out of the wildcat for 1 yard TD. I hope Hardin will be able to play Saturday. We have been fortunate so far this year with minor injuries, nothing major. He went down with an injury, rode a cart to the locker room. The defense surprised me a little with such poor pass coverage? 5 didn’t play, but the other corners are just not making plays this year. Our only interceptions are coming from safety or linebackers. I thought our defensive backs would be a strength? CAT mentioned how great and consistent our kickers have been this year. Our punter and FG kicker have been spot on with punts, FG’s, and kickoffs.

Does anyone have the post game interview? No, but I heard about it. And I just got off the phone with someone who says things got to a boiling point after the game. All I heard about the interview was something to the extent of some coaches and players are going to be gone if certain behavior dont change. I know, what I saw and heard during the game, I would feel the same way, but with my temper, I would have made certain peaple walk right then. It was embarrassing.

I had posted what he said but took it down. I would say the radio station probably recorded it but that depends on if the mice were still energetic enough to keep running around the wheel to power the station's 2 watt transmitter.
