Game time is 2:30pm. High for Saturday is 69? Of course in the dome I guess it doesn't matter the weather outside the dome. Although early forecast is for rain on Saturday for those that are making the trip. I hope our coaches/players are ready for a loud environment. Hand signals/boards will be about the only way to communicate. Roarlions should have an update on the board for the game this evening. Fun to see the matchups, please post your final scores after you view the team and matchups. Roar Lions everybody! I am still a little tired horse from Saturday night....should be ready to go again by Saturday.

Coach Klieman reminds me of Bobby Wallace, minus the Southern drawl.

Thanks for the video Gumby. If Lopez is healthy, we stay within 20. If not this could be bad. Our team has a lot of fight and has not made the costly turnovers yet, our special teams have been very solid. We continue those trends and it should be s good game. We will need a lot of things to go our way, turnovers, jump balls, ricochets, lack of injuries, etc. Maybe the Bison come in a little rusty and takes them like 52 minutes to get going....maybe we guess right on every play...either way our guys have performed ahead of expectations to this point. The Bisons are going to be a lot different than our first two games, one BIG challenge. I am pretty sure our coaches really have a lot of respect for Bison program. What a great experience for our team and heck of a measuring stick. This game should help us get better for the challenges that lie ahead on our schedule. If we go 8-2 first year D1....not too shabby.

I think we are pretty good as far as "skill" position players, especially for a first year team. It's in the mosh pit on both sides of the ball where we'll get pounded. We'll just have to live with that a while until we can completely recover from the O-line exodus caused by a former assistant. Maybe not all of them but at least some of them would have been factors if they had stayed and as Coach Klieman said, that long grind will cause injuries and that will hurt us this year. Finding a good QB is a breeze compared to forming a good offensive line. Our defensive line looked bad for six quarters. Thankfully they tightened up in the last two. I hope both lines can be relatively injury free this season and become the foundation for improvement over the coming seasons.
On that note, has anyone heard the status of senior defensive end Jaylin Dailey?

I am still a little tired horse from Saturday night....should be ready to go again by Saturday. I upset the apple cart of a few hundred UNA fans. As usual they were deafeningly quiet for most of the game. In the fourth quarter, UNA was fighting to hang on their slight lead. The dogs were driving and and gaining momentum. You could have heard a pin drop. I waited for the PA dude to take another shot of gin and in the quietness I loudly let the "fans" have it. UNA's players were begging for their supporters to make noise and was getting almost no response. Boy did I get a lot of dirty looks! So I yelled at them that we are going to lose this game if we don't get in it, that this could be it. Several young Asian students stood up in front of us and started cheering and it seemed to trickle down like a waterfall until most at least half of the people got involved. It just so happened that it was leading up to maybe the play of the game. With part of the crowd roaring, Maurice Burton fired into the backfield and sacked the QB. I don't know how much the crowd had to do with it but the players sure seemed to think so. I was so proud that most of the crowd stayed in the game the rest of the way!
I just don't understand why a large portion of the crowd, and not just UNA, doesn't understand the impact they can have on a game. I guess it's that segment who've never participated in competitive sports. Vocal support, pounding the bleachers with empty coke bottles etc can help an athlete get that extra adrenaline and second wind when they otherwise wouldn't. Find me an athlete who wants the fans to sit down and shut up and I'll show you a life-long bench warmer. Of course over the last ten years, UNA has been one of the few schools who frown on crowd support and will aggressively squash anyone who shows it with violence and legal action. I will be glad when those kind of people are no longer around UNA athletic events.

WOW! A 24 station RADIO network! That's great for the fans! We are strictly little league in that regard. We have a one station radio network operating at one watt. The only people who can hear it are working in the station! Do yall get a lot of corporate support? We struggle because Alabama, Auburn and Tennessee SUCK up the Lion's share.

I was the guy at the very top (the seats had a back on them and I forgot my bleacher seat) yelling the whole game, the only peaple I pissed off was the assistant coaches when I asked them what the hell they are thinking throwing the ball when they should be concentrating on running the clock out. But anyway. The quiet nature of UNA fans (as I have come to learn in my 35 years) is a Florence thing in general, dont matter if it's a sporting event, concert, or otherwise. Even at Alabama games I have been to with groups of Florence peaple, crickets from that crowd. But its not because they dont want to, as we found out the other night, its because they are afraid to embarrass themselves. When they see everyone else is doing it, they go ahead. If it's just a couple of people, they usually give looks.

If it's just a couple of people, they usually give looks. I think it's a combination of a couple of things. I've been to some Alabama games where things were relatively quiet. I think part of it is just a "Southern" attitude of going to the game to mostly socialize, and I guess watch the band for some. But I think when you have a team that has a tradition of winning, it's easy to get complacent and feel like they don't "need" you. A lot of our fans especially have gotten spoiled in the last ~25 years. And then you have the millennials, which I suppose I'm on the borderline of being, which would either legitimately prefer to be anywhere else, or just don't think it's "cool" to get up and cheer. And to be fair, I can empathize with the embarrassment factor. I've never been that outgoing. It's sometimes hard to stand up and make noise when everybody else is sitting on their hands. Especially when someone might try to have you arrested... As for NDSU's radio network, I think it's important to remember that they are the Alabama of North Dakota. One of the top two state universities. People all across their state care what the Bison are doing. I hope we get there one day, but as for right now, I'm not sure there is a huge market for our broadcasts outside of the Shoals and maybe Huntsville. Though that certainly shouldn't keep us from trying to change that. Back in the 90s I believe we had five stations, from Cullman to northeast Mississippi and southern Tennessee, when Jerry Knight and Bill Hunt were doing the games. Of course, I think the internet and the ability to stream sort of negates the need for a lot of that. Though I get there are people that still have to rely on the radio itself.
