You guys want loud fans come sit by me and my wife. My wife doesn’t need a megaphone. Couple years ago some poor fellow told her she needed to be quiet, he lived....he hasn’t come back to our section. Why would you tell somebody not to cheer at a game? Jan usually starts the cheers and we try to make sure she is not alone. I started a few defense cheers myself this weekend. Some grandparents and the their granddaughters were in front of us, they all cheered. Good job by those grandparents teaching those girls right and making long life Lions fans. Even our customers used the Pom Pom shaker things we gave them, heck that’s part of the game, have fun.
Looks like I may fork out the $5 this weekend to watch ESPN +....unless the Bisons broadcast a free live stream like North Alabama does? Gumby?

No free stream anymore, and a lot of Bison fans don't like it either. ESPN has our streaming rights now and decided to move all of our games to ESPN+ this year...had been ESPN3 prior.

But, from what I can tell the Campbell game in a few weeks will also be on there, not to mention basketball games and other sports from whatever deal the ASUN has with them. So it's not an unwise investment to go ahead and sign up for it.

ESPN is feeling the crunch of people cancelling their cable packages. For years a lot of folks who aren't sports fans paid for the ESPNs even if they didn't watch them. Now they're either cancelling cable altogether or moving to a different option.

This is why we all need to start meeting up before the games, get to know each other and have fun... we can be the section that gets the crowd into it.

I was the guy at the very top (the seats had a back on them and I forgot my bleacher seat) yelling the whole game, the only peaple I pissed off was the assistant coaches when I asked them what the hell they are thinking throwing the ball when they should be concentrating on running the clock out. But anyway. The quiet nature of UNA fans (as I have come to learn in my 35 years) is a Florence thing in general, dont matter if it's a sporting event, concert, or otherwise. Even at Alabama games I have been to with groups of Florence peaple, crickets from that crowd. But its not because they dont want to, as we found out the other night, its because they are afraid to embarrass themselves. When they see everyone else is doing it, they go ahead. If it's just a couple of people, they usually give looks. I think it's a combination of a couple of things. I've been to some Alabama games where things were relatively quiet. I think part of it is just a "Southern" attitude of going to the game to mostly socialize, and I guess watch the band for some. But I think when you have a team that has a tradition of winning, it's easy to get complacent and feel like they don't "need" you. A lot of our fans especially have gotten spoiled in the last ~25 years. And then you have the millennials, which I suppose I'm on the borderline of being, which would either legitimately prefer to be anywhere else, or just don't think it's "cool" to get up and cheer. And to be fair, I can empathize with the embarrassment factor. I've never been that outgoing. It's sometimes hard to stand up and make noise when everybody else is sitting on their hands. Especially when someone might try to have you arrested... As for NDSU's radio network, I think it's important to remember that they are the Alabama of North Dakota. One of the top two state universities. People all across their state care what the Bison are doing. I hope we get there one day, but as for right now, I'm not sure there is a huge market for our broadcasts outside of the Shoals and maybe Huntsville. Though that certainly shouldn't keep us from trying to change that. Back in the 90s I believe we had five stations, from Cullman to northeast Mississippi and southern Tennessee, when Jerry Knight and Bill Hunt were doing the games. Of course, I think the internet and the ability to stream sort of negates the need for a lot of that. Though I get there are people that still have to rely on the radio itself. The difference when comparing UNA with Alabama and Auburn is 100,000 people just coughing makes a lot more noise than 200 hundred scattered people screaming their lungs out. You are right about the lone-wolf syndrome. I knew I would get dirty looks but it was worth it eventually. By the night I was arrested, our group in Braly was really growing. Everyone was well-behaved but LOUD and the players LOVED IT! THE players kept coming to us for support instead of the rather lame cheerleaders. The kids were singing the song the transfer receiver from UT wrote and more and more people were wanting the lUNAtic shirts. I was all set to put in a third order for those future Lions fans. But then UNA saw fit to surround the group and rough up a 48 year old fan of 43 years seniority, in the process of recovering from back surgery, sending kids of as little as 8 years old, crying and on their on. Of course that destroyed a good thing for UNA, a good thing for the players, a fun thing for young people. I've wondered how many of the young people were traumatized into not coming back. After being roughed up by Elliot Ness and his henchmen, imagine an old man who had just been cut open a month earlier being pushed into the steel bars of the stadium, then slung around making him stumble and fall because he had been handcuffed like a terrorist and then dragged on the concrete without the use of his hands because of the handcuffs, then jammed into the backseat of a small car without adjusting the front seat forward which was tremendously painful, booked and fingerprinted. Luckily the lady in the jail wasn't afflicted with overkill. She asked why I was arrested. When I told her it was for standing up at a college football game, she got ticked off. She said she hated when they did stuff like that. It makes people hate them even more. She said she wouldn't put me in a cell so I waited on a seat until bailsman arrived. Because of this, I've been the target of so many haters who say I got what I deserved, probably drunk, on drugs, rowdy. Wrong on all counts. I'm so glad I am my age. I would hate to have grown up in such a repressive country as this has become, especially in the last 10 years.

G'day! Bison fan here. I know that both fan bases are really looking forward to todays game. Your fans that are making the trek up to Fargo will have a blast. The atmosphere both outside at the tailgate and inside the dome is something special. When the Lions have the ball it will be VERY load and then quiet as a church mouse when it's in the Bison hands. Both your team and fans will be treated with respect and kindness wherever they go. Here's to an entertaining and injury free game!

Wish I could be there, and hopefully the only injuries that occur is a sore elbow from bud light curls......(for the fans, not the players.)

Yeah, watching on ESPN+ here just fine.
Offense is looking skittish early. Big mistake on special teams. Can’t just give NDSU points, as they certainly don’t need help.
