Hi Lions Fans! Looking forward to this game. Lots of unknowns on both sides, but I think it should be a very good game. This will be my first time in Florence, what is the game day atmosphere like? Tailgating?

Tailgating? Hard to tell, this is our first D1 home game. There is good tailgating, weather permitting. I would expect around 10k in attendance, hopefully more because of the first home game, but it is a Thursday night game, so... How many fans do you think will travel from Illinois to Florence? If you need places to eat, just ask. We have lots of good options. Hope you have a good trip...

Hard to tell, being a Thursday night. My guess would be not many. It would be a long drive, and a lot of folks won’t want to fly two weekends in a row; I know there’s a large number going to Ft Collins the next weekend. I’m guessing mostly families for this game.

I did see something on the athletic site about an area called Spirit Hill I think? You had to pay in advance for a space? Do they let you tailgate just in the parking lot or do you have to get a space there?

There is a practice field on south end of the stadium where the students tailgate. You can park close to the stadium if you get there early enough and and just walk over to Spirit Hill and join the festivities. Usually Food, games, music and contests by local radio and restaurants. Safe travels, town of Florence is located on Tennessee River, has plenty of nice local restaurants. Check back with us before the game, get some local knowledge.

Hi Lions Fans! Looking forward to this game. Lots of unknowns on both sides, but I think it should be a very good game. This will be my first time in Florence, what is the game day atmosphere like? Tailgating? I've made it up your way a few times, to Springfield at least. Not TOO bad of a drive from here in Chattanooga where I am. Never got over to Macomb, however. Maybe we can schedule a return trip at some point. As you've mentioned, Spirit Hill will be your best bet on tailgating. Hopefully we'll get some decent weather that day. Late August is usually hot and muggy, but you never know. This week a cold front is coming through that is supposed to knock out the humidity and give north Alabama highs closer to the low 80s. Sure would be nice to have that happen again the week of the game! Games can be, well... a little too quiet. Our fans are used to winning in D2 and not really having to be much of a "12th man". Maybe that can start to change as games get bigger and tougher. Make sure to stick around for the halftime show. The Pride of Dixie is great and worth the listen. If you're spending anytime in Florence before or after the game, try to make it over to campus (Braly Stadium is close but not exactly on the campus itself). I'm biased, but we have one of the most beautiful settings around. And who else has two live lions you can visit? Nobody, that's who! Leo and Una have a habitat at the main campus entrance. Looking forward to the game! Even if I may not be able to make it myself... dang Thursday games

Another attraction that hopefully will be open by the date of the game is the new Royal/Huntsville Rd Roundabout. Should be loads of fun lol

For some reason though, when I think of games we know about for next year, I didn’t remember that being on the schedule.

We had one common opponent last season (NDSU) with very similar scores.
Here's their game with the Bison.
