First FCS game in Florence, on a Thursday night.
Western Illinois Leathernecks are a Member of the MVFC, arguably the best conference in FCS. They are traditionally a strong, middle of the pack program in that conference. I think we can, I reiterate can win this game. Thinking it will be a close game, maybe an overtime game. Being the first D1 game in Florence, a good program that our fans can and should identify with, outside of the nervous fans, should be a good crowd and atmosphere. From what I have read and peaple I have talked to, Western Illinois fans travel pretty decent. They remind me of UNA ih a lot of ways, not just the colors.
My prediction UNA 27 Western Illinois 21 in overtime.

Very excited about this game! I don't think, however, that our fans will have any clue about them or The Valley conference (outside of NDSU). I hope our media folks are already preparing to hype this game and get folks in seats. Other than that, I have no idea how I think this game will go. We have a returning QB and they don't. The Leathernecks also lost a great running back. They are on the road at FBS Colorado State the following week and could possibly be overlooking the Lions a bit. Their schedule: goleathernecks.com/schedule.aspx?schedule=305

Really wish this game wasn’t on a Thursday night. Since it is, I more than likely won’t get to be there. Just can’t justify a six-hour round trip on a work night.
I always feel good about facing a QB making his first start, especially on the road. I suspect that could be the difference in this game. Even though they aren’t a powerhouse, winning this game would be another positive statement towards showing the rest of FCS that we mean business. Hope our guys are focused and bring their A-game.
Wonder what the TV situation will be?

Just saw on the D2 board that WIU is in a bit of turmoil over funding and enrollment. It was even mentioned on a radio show that they may explore moving to D2.
