Apparently the University is wasting no time in getting to work on the new updates for Flowers Hall. Can't wait to see it all when it's completed.

Can't wait to see the complete renovations. I'm the type person who loves smaller, louder, non-typically venues.
I think building new is a waist, unless it is warranted, in our case, the only thing that could warrant it would be selling out every night and peaple on a waiting list for season tickets. Even if we started selling out, they would just move to the new arena.
I just hope it keeps a great feel, I love Flowers, all it needs is some TLC and I'm good.

I would love to see some of the conceptual images of what it will look like this time next year. I'm sure the University has them, though they may not have been released to the public.
I'm just impatient like that, though. Same with the basketball coach search. I'd love to have some new information.

Kinda upset from what I have been told today, one whole side of the upstairs is going away, for luxury boxes only. That's why the seating capacity is lowering so much. I understand luxury boxes, but a whole side for them, I would rather have more seating.

We need more money to stay competitive with our new peers. I'm sure those luxury boxes can easily make up the money from the lost seating, and most likely bring in a lot more. Plus I'm sure it's doing away with the bleacher side. We didn't let our 2 year old anywhere near those. Honestly I feel like they are pretty dangerous. One more thing, those boxes will probably be used to host recruits' families. I'm sure wining and dining them in a nice, new facility can only help our chances.

Since we haven't had to roll out the end zone bleachers in about 10 years except for the UAH games, it probably won't matter for a while unless we make a miraculous turn around under new head coach, secret agent man.

Once it's done, we really need to advertise it on TV in connection with the beginning of our D1 adventure. Use plenty of visuals of the new look to grab the old fogies who haven't been in Flowers Hall in 30 years. Heck it's probably been at least 4 years for me!I've actually seen more softball games (2) than basketball games in that time period.

Heck it's probably been at least 4 years for me!I've actually seen more softball games (2) than basketball games in that time period. Yeah, it's definitely a "chicken or egg" type issue. It (usually) takes winning to get more people to come watch your product, but having more people there could also help us win more by just showing recruits that we are an engaged fan base. Let's be honest, folks in the Shoals are barely engaged when they're actually watching a winning team. I'm not sure what it would take to get people in Flowers to watch an average (or worse) basketball team. Perhaps a nicer facility will help. Better promotions? Better food? Beer? I mean, *I* would like that last one, but I know there's a better chance of a freeze warning in hell... To be honest taking the family to a basketball game is a great way to spend a weeknight as long as the game starts at a decent time. I'm not sure why more people don't take advantage of that, especially when season tickets are relatively cheap. Win or lose you can have fun. If I lived in the Shoals I would certainly go as much as possible.

My understanding the upstairs E section (the end section that you go under when entering) will be reserved for students.

Ok, I was under the impression that the whole side behind were the teams sit was going to be the VIPs. That is better then.

I think most people my age grew up watching top notch WINNING basketball at UNA. After so many years of barely mediocre basketball, going to a game now would be a sad, frustrating, experience not worth spending your money own. I will come to the games now that we will have a new coach but my generation knows we should be vastly better than what we've been and won't be able to hang in there if we dont see a pronounced uptick. We don't have 20 years to wait for a good program again.

I was told by a sportsman club member, who has been there since it's conception, that there will no longer be a divide between top and bottom anymore, they will make the stands continuous and take out the rails dividing the upstairs and downstairs. He said the seating will not decrease as much as they are saying.

See my comments on February 9th under the Flowers Hall thread.

They put out a picture in the online newsletter they send out to alumni. I saved it, but can’t find a way to post on here without having it online and linking to it.
