New look for the MC offense...the option. I am sure our dline guys are excited about the challenge. MC has been very successful this year with new rushing attack, averaging over 300 yards per game. The Lions on offense need to sustain drives and also finish those drives. Lions have walked away with 3 or none too many times lately due to a number of miscues. Clean those up and the record looks different today. Homecoming and cooler temperatures should bring quite a large crowd. With Alabama games being too boring to watch and Auburn games being too sad to watch, we should have a large audience. Lions get things moving in the right direction this week. Penalties will drop to below 80 yards, TD’s will be scored on splash plays. Prediction North Alabama 41, MC 21.

That sounds like a pretty accurate prediction, '96. I looked up MC's schedule expecting the same weak team they've been the past few years. And maybe they are, and a lot of their points have come in garbage time, I don't know - but they've kept the scores maybe closer than you'd expect against a few teams. The only comparison we have is UWF, which beat them by 13. But we all know the option can be tricky to defend when you don't see it very often.
I just want a relatively "easy" game at this point in the season for our guys. Maybe this will still turn out to be the case. Looks like I may finally get to be in attendance after not being able to come down to Florence (or Huntsville) so far this year. It appears we have great weather lining up for Saturday. I'd love to see 10,000+ at Braly.

Had a lot of folks ask me how we lost this past weekend....I hope the team is tired of hearing about the loss. We could finish this thing at 7-3. It will take better coaching and execution from the players. What a foundation for next year and the years to come if Year One has that type of success. We need to have focus for an entire game and stop trying only the first and fourth quarters on offense. I am looking forward to the offense find a rhythm and sustaining it for the game. Lopez was near perfect in passing last week, he needs to prove he is the leader on offense. Take control of the guys getting those silly fouls/penalties. Play like a D1 caliber program this weekend, been a few weeks since that happened.

Mississippi College player West Florida, Valdosta, and Florida Tech tough. Looks like we are in for another tough game.

Good win by the Lions at homecoming. Brought out some nostalgic helmets. Plain Purple with the white stars...
Has people got so upset they decided to quit posting on the board?

I’d really like to see attendance climb up to at least the 12k range. I’m not sure if it would make a huge difference in the push for a new stadium, but it might help. Hopefully having an all-FCS schedule will work in our favor next year.
Nonetheless I thought it was a decent crowd. Quiet, of course. Not sure what it will take to change that.
I’ll say this. I think the tailgating atmosphere is the best it’s ever been. While Braly needs a lot of improvements, I do enjoy the overall “feeling” outside the stadium. I’m not saying a new stadium wouldn’t be able to have the same (or better). But new stadiums seem to just have that “sterile” or corporate feeling, you know? Braly feels like home. I almost wish we could somehow take complete control of it and completely redo it to our liking.
Oh well. Sorry, not meaning to open that can of worms.

Had to be out of town today. How was the crowd? Saw the score, but how did the team look? The offense played well. Lopez was accurate, and Damon Cox had over 100 yards rushing. We scored on every possession in the first half. I had to leave just after halftime due to my 3 year old acting like a 3 year old, but the first half was impressive. Defense gave ave up some plays, but overall I think they did a fine job. The option is tough to defend when you only see it once or twice a year. I swear, on MC’s first TD (the long pass), their wide receiver blatantly pushed off our DB. Wasn’t called, of course. Speaking of penalties, we had several of those again, including at least one unsportsmanlike that I can remember. We HAVE to get that cleaned up. It may not hurt us the rest of this year, but we can’t play so undisciplined next year.

We had a blast from 10:45am getting ready for the parade, watching and cheering on our people at the parade, and eating at 306 for lunch with all the UNA fans. We enjoyed the free movie on campus, in the Gulliot center, Christopher Robin. Few students and other families attended the movie and free popcorn was provided. We bought a jersey for my daughter at the bookstore, and some drinks and sat in commons and watched some football before heading down to the Lion Walk. Met my customers at the Pie Factory, had a really good Philly cheesesteak calzone and off to the game we went. We don’t leave until the clock is finished. Explosive offensive by the Lions and really hate the penalty negated the first catch by Boykin...wow! Mississippi College is improving and will be a team to be reckoned with in GSC in upcoming years. So happy for Cox to get over 100 yards, been very consistent all year.
Roar Lions!
