I think they are were they will be for a very long time. Indy in football and the ASun in the primary conference. There is a reason they had to go to extremes, in my opinion to move to FBS. Nobody wants them, and I think the ASun and the Big South just scratched each other's backs in regard to Liberty. My personal beliefs aside, from an athletic standpoint, I like having Liberty in the conference. And I do consider myself a Christian, but I dont see eye to eye with their founder.

Hard to believe they haven't even been around 50 years yet. Found this interesting from Wikipedia.
In its early years, the university was held afloat financially by major donors. The university was placed on probation multiple times in the 1990s by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools due to heavy debt loads. In 1990, the university's debt totaled $110 million; in 1996, it totaled $40 million. As of 2017 the university's endowment stands at more than $1 billion and gross assets are in excess of $2 billion.
In 1985, the university began a distance learning program by mailing VHS tapes to students and was the forerunner to Liberty University's current online program. When high-speed Internet connections became more widespread around 2005, Liberty began to offer online courses to a larger adult population.

Its official, Bellarmine is the 10th member of the ASun.
I dont see more than 10 in the ASun, so unless NJIT moves, no West Florida...
NJIT Liberty Bellarmine (2020) Lipscomb North Alabama Kennesaw State North Florida Jacksonville Stetson Florida Gulf Coast

Don’t know much about them, other than I believe their men won the D2 title 5 or 6 years ago. They’re obviously in a good location to have a strong basketball program (Louisville). Perhaps it will help us pull a couple of Kentucky kids in time.
NJIT continues to be an oddball in the conference. I don’t have anything against them, but I would be happy to see them leave IF it meant one of the GSC gang was moving up. I’d like to see the Big South be able to replace Presbyterian’s spot after they leave this year and keep the conference at eight teams.

I’d like to see the Big South be able to replace Presbyterian’s spot after they leave this year and keep the conference at eight teams. I think the ASun would be smart to go after West Florida asap. Especially if NJIT leaves, but more than likely, Bellarmine will be looking for the first opportunity out, just like Northern Kentucky. Jacksonville may be looking to add scholarship football relatively soon, they also have plans for a stadium similar to Campbell's stadium. That would be a good replacement for Presbyterian. Stetson AD told me via email they would never be interested in Scholarship football. Maybe the big South football can have UNA, KSU, West Florida and JU in soon enough. Then if one or the other leave, (NJIT or Bellarmine) we may be able to convince Valdosta to step up. That would be a nice footprint for both the ASun and Big South football. UNA, KSU, Valdosta St, UWF, JU, Hampton, Campbell, Gardner Webb, Charleston Southern. And if FGCU and UNF get it together, the ASun could sponsor football and have UNA, KSU, West Florida, VSU, JU, UNF, and FGCU. That would give everyone room for ooc rivals and a FBS or two. In conference rivalries naturally UNA-KSU (starting off good in everything) UNA-UWF (had a good budding rivalry in all sports) UNA-VSU (you know) VSU-KSU (in state) VSU-UWF (old GSC) VSU-UNF-JU (proximity) Any combo of Florida schools I think it would be smart for ASun to be looking to UWF and VSU in the very near future. All sports NJIT (West Florida) Bellarmine (VSU) Liberty Lipscomb UNA KSU JU UNF Stetson FGCU As soon as NJIT and Bellarmine go, I would be on the phone with UWF and VSU. At that point, I think our 10 school conference will be set and more stability than ever. (Liberty will only ever get a football only invite if that, everything else is here and they know it.)

And if by chance, Liberty and Lipscomb decided to move on, with everyone else playing football in the ASun (outside of Stetson) and the Big South football side in shambles (not far fetched) the ASun just does a wink and hairflip to Gardner Webb and Charlston Southern and, they are in the ASun with a grin. Campbell will likely go to the CAA. The Big South becomes non-football.

Hey, did anyone notice that, that in addition to the Bellarmine announcement, the league office will be moving from Macon, Ga. to Atlanta. Would seem to add to the visibility of the ASun from a media access standpoint. This is supposed to happen July 1.

Moving to Atlanta tells us something, or at least makes me think, KSU and the ASun are committed to each other. That's a great thing.
