Keehn should be fired after the series. Send a message to everyone apart of the program, this is absolutely unacceptable. Bellarmine is a D2 transition without football (less funds). UNA loses by a combined 35-6. This is embarrassing.

Unless Mars Hill has really uped their pay, I doubt it. Lauderdale County Schools pay as much or more in some cases. Mars Hill isn’t party of the County school system, and they are by far better in just about every sport than county schools. They are private. Have you seen their facilities? Their football has a small indoor facility and Jumbotron better than Braly. Being private, they don’t have to follow same pay structure as public schools. I didn't say they were part of Lauderdale County system... I said they don't pay as well... They are better because they can do things that public schools can't, like recruiting.

But, he won’t be fired because I’m sure they think folks aren’t paying attention or don’t care. However, this is the type of situation where you could do the right thing as a coach and announce your retirement. This can go on no longer.

Okay this has got to be the last straw. I expected UNA to win this series, and possibly even sweep. Beating an SEC opponent in a mid week game can not continue to be the saving grace of this program. It’s time for changes as much as I hate being the guy that says thing like that. Keehn’s not the only one in the department either.. Absolutely. I thought this could be a weekend to turn the ship around. I never imagined this day. I got a little nervous when last night’s game was rained out. I haven’t looked at how the pitchers were used today but they often have to pitch by committee in every game to be competitive. But, that said, there was obviously no offense either. I’m glad it wasn’t on ESPN+. EDIT: More details with who pitched, etc. roarlions.com/news/2022/4/9/baseball-lions-drop-double-header-at-bellarmine.aspx

He's not the only local prospect that should be on the list. Why not pluck the NWSCC coach who has a long-term record of HS and college coaching in the area? Just a thought.

I know public schools recruit.... But private schools, like mars hill do it without fear of breaking rules. I interviewed for a coaching job at Mars Hill, it was considerably less pay, with no benefits compared to Lauderdale County Schools. The difference is, at Mars Hill, all I would have to do is coach, not classroom. UNA pays more than Mars Hill. That's the point.

For me, this weekend shows the issue isn’t a talent gap. UNA strategy revolves around “gimmicks”. Using your #3 pitcher on Fridays to avoid matching up with every other teams #1, constantly shifting defensive positioning around instead of playing straight up, running almost everytime a guy gets on base despite leading the league in caught stealing (and picked off) by a wide margin. This will never win at the D1 level. It’s beyond time for a change.

2021 ERA 7.61. 2022 ERA 8.14 There are some good pitchers on this team. ERA should be 1/2 that number. So what's the problem? It doesn't matter what type of offense you play when you have to score 9 runs a game to win.

In year 4 of the transition UNA is last in the conference in runs allowed, and last in runs scored. Not a recipe for success. As far as I can tell, these transition years were wasted with the wrong coaching staff, and the next guy will be basically starting over from scratch.

Most of the pitchers used this weekend were Freshmen. A couple of sophomores and a junior also pitched but that type of youth is hard to overcome in D1. He should have recruited some older pitchers as transfers or something. Does he even recruit CCs like our other sports do?

He should have recruited some older pitchers as transfers or something. Does he even recruit CCs like our other sports do? Alot of the pitchers that come into the program are throwing 88-91 (according to perfect game). Once they get there the velocity drops to 84-87 (according to what I've seen). That won't play at this level unless you are a nasty lefty. Why is this happening? The talent was there but what happened once it arrived? As far as the hitting goes, 5 guys are performing this year. Next year there should be a middle infielder that got hurt this year. Word is he can flat out hit and pick it. A couple other freshman/sophomore hitters mature + bring back a couple current players + JUCO middle infielder coming in next year that's hitting +.400 this year at JUCO level. Could be 6-7 good hitters next year depending on development. Next year goal should be 22+ wins. Following year should/could be +.500 team. Could pad the schedule early by bringing mid major northern schools into Florance instead of getting whacked by the likes of Southern Miss. Keep the mid week SEC games for the kids to enjoy and test themselves against the best, but pick up some early non conference wins to start the season to build some momentum.

I hope the new coach pulls all of that together. Keehn doesn’t deserve another year. Time to thank him for his service to the program and move on to a staff that can continue the development of these young players, not stunt it.

Wow… Lions up 6-2 with 2 outs in bottom of 7th. Starting pitcher had been great all night. 2 runners on, lefty hitter up. Starter beginning to struggle at 120 pitches. Instead of bringing in lefty closer to face him, we leave the kid in. Gives up 3 run homerun. When UNA homer announcers are criticizing you, you know it’s bad. Left him in to throw 136 pitches, when it’s game one of a series and we should have full staff available. Hard to understand…
