lol. I know you said not to ask, but I’m not trying to pin you down on any specifics.

lol. I know you said not to ask, but I’m not trying to pin you down on any specifics. I can say very reliable source that is with the University. But, it's like they said in the press conference when UNA was invited to the ASun, there has to be more interest (tickets sold) than what we have now to even consider new facilities. And I was also told that the original plan was to renovate Braly and use it for the foreseeable future, but since the way the Middle school deal was done, that's not what is wanted anymore. Just keep your eyes open the next couple of years, if you see dirt moving next to the softball stadium, a football stadium isn't far behind.

Wonder how well these DI schools travel? The A&M game should be a sell out.

Wonder how well these DI schools travel? The A&M game should be a sell out. My guess is A&M will be near capacity. So that’s what, around 15k? Let’s be conservative and say 14k show up (as long as the weather’s good). That might skew the numbers a little for the season. I would at least hope we can fill the home (west) side for all of our games since these will all be D1 teams we’re playing. My gut feeling is we won’t see a huge increase in visitor attendance outside A&M. We simply need more UNA folks to get out. I’m thinking about doing what I believe Brandon suggested on the board here a few weeks ago: buy season tickets, even if I don’t make it to more than 1 or 2 games, but on the weekends I can’t be there make sure someone I know uses them.

If Alabama lost 2 early games attendance would go up.

When it comes to Marketing, it starts with the little things. Not wanting to be a complainer but if you were Joe average fan, where would you find our 2019 football schedule? Not on ROAR LIONS. Why? What does Joe average fan know about Western Illinois that would interest them to come to the game? Now is the time to start promoting next season not 3 to 6 months before the season. Wouldn't hurt to find ways to promote ourselves in the markets of our opposition which will be travelling to our house. Don't assume that a nearby market is going to travel well, make sure we have done what we could to make it happen.

I really hope it isn't just laziness or an oversight. Hopefully the Big South hasn't "officially" announced the 2019 schedule or something. To that point I checked Kennesaw's site - no 2019 schedule. I also checked Campbell, and they DO show their non-conference games for 2019, but not the Big South schedule. So perhaps that really is the reason. Of course, with Western Illinois, we should be doing like Campbell and at least have it and the other non-conference games posted. It should be the first thing you see if you go to the Football section of RoarLions.com. Can we put up some sort of signage at Braly? Sure would be nice if we could replace that State Farm ad on the back of the scoreboard with a graphic showing the next game. I know State Farm probably pays some of the bills... but still. Now that I mention that, I wonder if our stadium deal prevents us from being able to put up a graphic, say, on the locker room wall facing out towards Royal Avenue? It's just a blank gray cinder-block wall. I guess maybe they can't show any favoritism to UNA over FHS

Shoot, if nothing else, show the OOC games and dates and, since we know who is in our conference, state the names of conference foes with a TBD for the date. When it comes to the stadium deal who knows but the powers to be do not seem to have much of a fire under them to figure out a way to move on. I guess there is much talk and going around in circles but firm milestones and a plan for the greater public and Joe fan to latch onto...nary a peep SIGHHHHHH.

Hate to keep beating a dead horse on the stadium, but I’d love to be a fly on the wall during some of those discussions between our folks and the school board. Exactly why do they seem to have us by the short hairs on this? I know it’s not technically our stadium, but goodness, it’s almost like our people don’t even try. What would be the harm of putting a banner up on those ugly locker room walls? Would FHS students really be that insecure about it? Obviously the real answer is, the school board themselves would feel that way. And the board hasn’t even carried out all the things that were agreed upon in the renegotiated deal last year. I’m pretty sure the press box was supposed to be painted gray to be more neutral. When is that happening?

In fairness on the University side, theyhave to have a secure source of income to move forward with facilities. Remember, we are still in year 1. Money from ththe conference will come, but that money will primarily go towards ASun sports, because its ASun money. Football can benefit in small way from it, but the primary income for FCS football (just like D2) comes from ticket sales and guaranteed money from FBS games. We have to do our part for the ticket sales. The whole attitude that I heard from a lot of people is, "I'm not going to Braly anymore because of parking, it's old, insert excuses here" ain't going to make anything better. UNA hasn't been in D1 long enough to have extra money to just build it, and we damn sure ain't an SEC school and crap out whatever. At this point, anything that happens, football wise in the facilities race, is sitting squarely on our (the fans) shoulders. That means we have to show up, or at least buy tickets or make donations.

And coincidentally, after mentioning this yesterday, the Big South goes and officially releases the conference schedule today... Lions on 2019 Big South Football ScheduleNothing earth-shattering there. Obviously this information had already leaked out. The 2019 schedule has NOT been posted on RoarLions.com yet. Now, since this news just "officially" came out today, I'll give them a day or two. But there's no good reason for it to not be up by the end of the week.
