Well after finally picking up a third win, now the Lions have a quick turnaround and play again Saturday at UNCG. It's set to be another tough game. Outside of two losses to SEC schools, the Spartans haven't really played a killer schedule, but they've won them all. The losses to LSU and Kentucky were not blowouts. UNCG was picked to win the SoCon, and are the defending champs. They won the conference tournament last year and lost to Gonzaga in the Dance.
We keep looking for that elusive first D1 win. It's hard to necessarily predict that to happen in this one. But, if the guys could somehow keep up that 60% field goal percentage from the second half of yesterday's game, they'd have a good chance. Maybe that hot shooting will continue?
For the record, the trip to Jacksonville State is coming up on Tuesday. Then a week from today we play at VMI, which may be our best opportunity for a win out of the next three. The Keydets are 5-7 with several blowout losses. Of course, I'd much rather beat the Cocks and exact a little revenge. A win (or two?) before Christmas would be a nice gift.

I remain optimistic, we have played well in most of our losses and a few more missed shots drop, we have a few more wins. I think we have the ability to win this game. But we have to quit rushing shots and be in better position on defense. Youth, at the moment, is hard on the team.

Jax State will be our first repeat opponent. I think that could bode well for the Lions, especially after playing so terribly against them the first time.

After 7 mins of play, we lead 4-2. Neither team can make a shot.

Six min. scoring droughts are hard to overcome. Lions behind by 9 at the half after Stafford drains a 3 at the buzzer.

Just had a chance to turn this on. Based on the score alone I’m guessing the first half was another ugly one. But hey, seems like we’re playing good defense as well.
Let’s win this thing!

We were down by as much as 12 in the first half after an abysmal shooting percentage. Much better this half so far!
Roar Lions!!

WTF just happened? Why did we just let 20 seconds run out with a 5 point differential??

WTF just happened? Why did we just let 20 seconds run out with a 5 point differential?? Yeah, that was strange. I get your chances are very slim at that point, but why not try? Another frustrating loss because of how close we played that second half. We’re young, overall less talented than almost every team we’ve played, etc. - I get it. But it’s hard to watch this same script play out again. We had our chances and just couldn’t get it going at crunch time. When they hit the bonus with a few minutes to go and we were still four fouls away, I knew it would be very difficult to pull this one out. Oh well. Jacksonville Tuesday night. Man I’d love for our first D1 win to be against them.

We need to score some points down low. We do not shoot it well enough from three point land to compensate for lack of low post. We are in most games, our coaches have to find a way for us to score and shoot some higher percentage shots. Effort is good...results are not. Really hope we can find some scoring Tuesday night and win the game.

WTF just happened? Why did we just let 20 seconds run out with a 5 point differential?? Even the announcers thought it was odd.

We played well enough to win... but it is what it is. The problem is, the "average fan" only sees the L.
