From a Big South view: Kennesaw in as #4 seed. Monmouth is outside looking in.
From a UNA view: Incarnate Word is in as a nonseed. To that I say "Go Montana State!"

I thought they ended one D1 win short of the requirement? That stinks if the NCAA let them slide. There should’ve been consequences for snubbing us. As you said, hopefully MSU will squash them. I browse a couple of FCS forums every now and then, and the general feeling I get is no respect at all for Big South football. They have questioned KSU being ranked as high as they are all season. Now I’m not sure KSU is all that, but I feel like their resume at least supports their ranking. The Big South definitely needs some better competition overall, though. Monmouth needs to continue being solid. Maybe Campbell will make some strides. Charleston Southern made it all the way to #2 in the country a few years back, I believe. They need to pick it back up.

I believe the consistency is the problem. Can Kennesaw remain in the top 15 year in and year out in the FCS? Can Charleston Southern get back to a top 25 program? Will North Alabama be the new team that can compete year in and year out?

They must have. Certainly their conference had made a concession as they played one less in conference game than their cohorts. Apparently one of the bigger discussions by the playoff committee was what to do with Monmouth as they had a better record than many teams that got in with 4 loses. Apparently some of the reasoning had to do with, while fewer loses, the margins of loss were pretty big. CAA got 6 teams in which did not help. Strength of conference plays pretty strong in FCS. Big South has been so unstable over the last few years and it has had an impact with creating strong rivalries. If this conference can hold together, a nucleus of strong rivalries can develop which, I think, would strengthen the outside view of the conference and the teams within.

After watching the JSU/KSU game and seeing the Big South get crapped on by the playoff committee (Monmouth), I think the Big South needs to approach JSU and the ASun and convince them to join the ASun...
It will make the Big South a top 4 conference for football, and the ASun would have a good number 10, not to mention a handful of rivals.

Anyone else watching Maine at Weber State? Nice crowd including a pretty decent contingent and band from Maine out in Utah.

Anyone else watching Maine at Weber State? Nice crowd including a pretty decent contingent and band from Maine out in Utah. Was not able to watch. I think Weber usually has a good crowd at all their Home games, but for Maine to bring their band across country is cool. Not usually the case in smaller schools.

Band got to the stadium as game was beginning. Looked like their return flight was scheduled for that night/morn right after the game, so basically fly, game, fly. Maine defense looked pretty stout. Snow in the area for their game last week and this week...winter warriors.

Should have been a flag against NDSU on that hit to a QB giving himself up in a feet first slide.

Whew...that offensive line and defensive line is the target for the Lions. NDSU is a impressive to watch. South Dakota State was no slouch...just had no answer for the smashing run game by NDSU. Bison are a fun team to watch. I hope we can continue to recruit at a high level and challenge them in a few years. We have work to do to get there.

A big loud crowd would go a long way in recruiting big physical players...
