2018 NCAA DIVISION II FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME BIDS OPEN
INDIANAPOLIS — The NCAA is currently accepting bids to host the final game of the 2018 Division II Football Championship.
Information on bid requirements for the Dec. 15 contest may be found at ncaa.org/championships/division-ii-football. Bids for the championship game will be accepted until Monday, Sept. 17, with a new site being awarded shortly after.
Bids for the 2019-21 Division II national championship football games will be open to interested parties at a later date.
The 2018-22 championship games were awarded to Children’s Mercy Park, the home field of Major League Soccer’s Sporting Kansas City, but field renovations will prohibit the game from being played this December.

Wow. Kinda late to be holding bids for THIS YEAR! Sounds like the stadium folks must have ran into some unforeseen issues with the field? Certainly there couldn’t have been this bad of a breakdown in communication. So someone else will host the game this year, and reading between the lines, perhaps this gives the NCAA an “out” to find a new host city? Which is funny, since they were SO excited to get out of tiny little Florence, Alabama. Honestly they should go back to a D2 city and a D2 stadium. Playing in a soccer stadium in the Midwest was about the dumbest thing imaginable.

Pensacola and UWF should bid. Florida in the winter time, nice view of the ocean, probably no hurricanes that time of year,..just saying.

I’m not sure how good UWF expects to be this season, but if they have any shot at making the title game, Pensacola should go for it. I hear home field advantage works out pretty well...

So I've heard. I think they maybe have a shot. We will see as the season goes on but currently D2 Football poll #3.

Blue Wahoos Stadium doesn't meet the minimum specs to bid. Must have 8K with at least 3K of that on the visitor's side. Much of UWF's seats are in the end zone due to it being a baseball stadium predominantly.
I checked. I'd love to have the game here ultimately. I'm sure UWF's on-campus stadium will meet those specs, but it's years away.
