As we go quietly into D1, without a doubt UNA needs to put together an aggressive team to go out out and promote our sports in north Alabama, especially football and basketball since they are the only bread winners. This having the players sack groceries at Walmart kind of thing is ok but it's not doing the job. There needs to be huge amounts of freebees including tickets by the fours across northwest Alabama, Southern Tennessee and east Mississippi. Have post or pregame concerts even if it's just local acts to begin with. It won't hurt our artificial field. Have special celebrity guests like comedians who could perform before the game and a quick closing routine before everyone starts leaving after the band plays.
This ISN'T the 60s or 70s anymore. Just saying: Hey, we got a D1 team now, come watch us play, isn't going to cut it anymore! We aren't the Tide. We aren't Auburn. We have to find our OWN way or suffer the consequences. We need this thing in high gear by this time next year.

Winning will do more than anything....
That being said, with the amount of musical talent, at all levels, in and around the Shoals, it should be easy to set up some pretty big names at tailgates and post basketball games. TNT could do some huge firework shows as well.

By the way, the D1 thing brought a lot of people, including myself (who dont follow or know much about soccer) to the first soccer game. It was fun and I plan on going to more.

Football and basketball may be the only bread winners today but, don't count out baseball and softball in the future.

I don't discount it. Real success in football AND basketball raises the visibility of all sports. If you suck in football and basketball, to a lesser extent, a vast majority, especially in Alabama, won't even notice if you have baseball, softball etc.
