They came out of the woodwork again in response to our D1 basketball scheduling. What a bunch of losers they are.

What are they saying? If Champagne was still the coach I doubt UNA would be playing Gonzaga.

I tried to find it again but couldn't. They are the group who wanted UNA to go through history on training wheels.
Just more negative stuff. One said he had never seen a bulldog eat a lion before. I guess he hadn't seen how many different animals ate a lion over the last 10 years.... and tigers and Tiders. Both of those programs have stunk since the mid 90s too. New coach and better players will make a difference.

If champagne was coach UNA would be playing reinhardt, colorado college, Martin Methodist and Tennessee Wesleyan. Pujol is getting UNA ready for D1 basketball. He could schedule a bunch of d2’s and naia schools and go 28-0.

On the positive side, his underwhelming .500 record over the last 10 years will really let us slip in under the radar.

I for one like Chanpagne as a person, but over the past 4 or 5 seasons I have become upset with his coaching. Also upset with the scheduling the past few seasons and I let Bobby know that I was upset.
The following is a portion of a letter I gave to Mark Linder over 16 months ago:
It seems like the Head Coach has a good team only about every four years or so. Recruiting only what is needed for the upcoming season not thinking down the road.
Basically running the same offense just about every year since he has been here, with maybe some minor changes every now and then. That's OK if you're winning, sometimes you also need to adjust to the talent on hand. Recruiting and developing talent, I'm not sure on how good he is of development talent that has already reach college age and are set in their ways. He is a great and likable person by fans and players, but I'm beginning to have some doubts about his recruiting and coaching ability.

These are all the same people that think all we will be playing is SEC and ACC teams in football. They don't have a clue. They usually are the ones with the headphones on and Bama or Auburn stuff on at UNA games. Let them be. They will find out what UNA is all about soon enough.

I went on there and replied to a couple. I used to agree with these folks. They'll come around. Or they never will and just an online troll, not a real UNA fan.

I went on there and replied to a couple. I used to agree with these folks. They'll come around. Or they never will and just an online troll, not a real UNA fan. Odds are pretty high on that last one. I was a D2 holdout to the end, believing it was better to be a big fish in a small pond. But I finally decided we had done about all we could there. Maybe this whole thing will be a spectacular failure, but at least we’ll finally find out. I have talked to some people in the Shoals that still feel it’s a bad idea, but don’t mean it maliciously.

I would say it's a bad idea if it was not done for the right reasons. The fact is, we should have gone in 95. Who knows where we would be today. But we stuck it out. Basically by ourselves. Yeah, we would call UAH, Delta and VSU rivals. But the only real rival we had was West Alabama, and let's face it, was not a very good one. We have more in common athletically with JSU, Chattanooga, even Troy and South Alabama than anyone in D2.
It turned into most people just attending games to do it and not really interested. That showed its ugly head during the playoffs in 2k16. Everyone knew we had a special team, but did they care about who we where playing? Nope. I have watched film and seen photos and was at a lot of games in the late 80's and early 90's when Braly was packed. Even if you wanted to listen to the Bama or Auburn game, you were paying attention to UNA. That's what we have to get back.
I think the staff understand that, that's why (I feel) we hired the current Basketball coach, that's where the money is in D1, he can get the fans excited, if you don't think so, I'm excited for basketball, and I'm a football guy.
Now, if we want the facilities we all talk about, we have to show up, and get more to show up. Make them know that this move was worth doing, win or otherwise.

I think a good way to do this is to post the link to UNA Pride Forums all over social media with a rah rah invitation to talk about the exciting new phase we have entered in all sports!
We now have ammo to get their attention. Instead of tossing out dull names like West Alabama and Delta State, it will be Gonzaga, North Dakota State, Washington State, Vanderbilt, ALABAMA, Saint Louis etc!
We also need to get our current members to get involved. The more traffic, the more people take it seriously.

Liberty fans on csnbbs boards are trying to get the A-Sun board rolling again. We can get on there and invite the liberty guys.
KSU has a message board called the owl howl.
I don't think any of the others do.
Would be nice to have a A-Sun pro board.

We've got 73 members. Just think how much difference it would make if they just dropped by to weigh in every once in a while. It's not like they have to take a shower and drive a few miles.
