We have a long and distinguished history in D2 but I'm disappointed we didn't go out with a bang in any sports. Softball was the only ones to grab the brass ring. I think football had a 50% chance to take it all if it had been in less arctic conditions in 2016. Now we have to go at this D1 thing aggressively. There is NO TIME for wishy-washy attitudes from top to bottom in any part of the university or the whole thing will be doomed and it would deal the University a staggering blow.
We need MEN and WOMEN to step up to offset the timid and weak. If burghs like Troy can do it, shame on UNA if we can't.

Agree completely CSF. We left a legacy that a lot of schools would love to have. National championships in what, 4 sports? Multiple titles in 2 of them. Made the finals or semifinals in several sports at other times. It seems like every one of our athletic teams had periods when they were competitive at least for GSC titles.
I’m excited to see what happens going forward. Regardless of how things play out over the next few years, at least we are finally giving it a shot.

As much as we are all disappointed that we didn't win a NC this year, we have to look at the overall history. Off the top of my head, I can't think of anyone in D2 that had done more than UNA had. And that's as a Athletic Program, not just Football, basketball, vollyball or softball, but all other sports have been relatively successful. No, they were not perfect, and it will be rough in the transition, peaple will doubt if it is the place we need to be, but rest assured, when we are selling out a new football stadium, have 7-10k in the new Agricultural center, the Softball team in trying to get to the world series and baseball finally win a conference championship, everyone will understand.
