Today's the day. Coach Pujol is scheduled to be introduced at a press conference at 2PM. I'm very interested in hearing what he has to say.
I feel like I complain too much sometimes, but I really wish I was seeing some more hype for this. The @unaathletics Twitter account hasn't mentioned basketball since Tuesday. Same for RoarLions.com. I looked at the lineup for Lion Vision, and it doesn't appear that they will be streaming the press conference, which I feel is a mistake. Perhaps it will be posted in their "On Demand" section afterwards, but I would enjoy being able to listen live. You have to start acting like a big deal, at some point, if you want people to believe you are.
Anybody know if there's any other way to watch?

Just more cause to worry that our lack of desire to market our shiny new step up in the world could very easily fail.

Coach Pujol definitely comes off as a likeable guy. He also sounds very professional. I do like his vision for our team, being one that attacks the basket within the first 8-10 seconds of a possession, and then also having a strong focus on defense. Of course, the key to this is finding the athletes that can produce in that system. I have no idea how he is as a recruiter, but again, he seemed to me to be the kind of guy a parent would be happy to have their son play for.

I like him......
I think he is sincere in what he says.
I also like how he knows he needs to get the community to buy in, and take ownership of what we have in the Shoals.
I also like what he is going to try to do with the style of play.

I was waiting to see Greg's opinion. I always like his takes. I agree with all of this, as well. For years I opposed a move up because I felt like football would be the only sport to benefit (and don't get me wrong, I love football). I hated the thought that football could be the only sport that has a realistic shot at a national championship (right or wrong). But my opinion has really started to change. I guess I have finally accepted that maybe a NC isn't the end-all, be-all for these sports. You look at schools like UMBC this year, or Loyola-Chicago, and my guess is they would much prefer to have accomplished what they did this year, compared to winning a D2 title for example. And I get that. If that's how they all feel, from school officials to fans to the players, who am I to judge? Everybody in the country now knows that both of those schools exist, whereas I bet only a single-digit percentage of college basketball fans even know who won the D2 championship this year. That's huge for those schools and could one day be huge for ours.

Good to see folks are coming around (me included) to recognize how important the non-football sports are. This is where you get the best bang for the buck and where we can best differentiate and compete with the Bamas and Burns in this state by possibly competing against in a regional (baseball, softball, basketball).

One interesting note. The “Elite Eight” was emphasized more than the Final Four, and the final three rounds were held in Sioux Falls, SD. I thought a few years back the NCAA has decided to hold the D2 and D3 championships in the same town as the Final Four (like on Friday night or Sunday, for example). I guess that fell through? I want to say the last time the Final Four was in Atlanta, the D2/D3 finals were held there. Oh well. I thought it was a neat idea that could probably only help the lower divisions, for attendance and exposure.

But, when the decision was made, it was made. Well, kinda sorta. There were certainly hiccups in the process but I was excited when the ASUN/Big South announcement finally came. That said, both D2 games were great. The men's game was close and it was packed based on the close proximity of both teams. In the women's game, it was also a good atmosphere (well attended by both schools, pep bands, etc.) as Central Missouri took down Ashland's two-year winning streak.
