My own conclusions. I guess I still have a case of cale-itis where I can't believe the administration is on our side this time.

And don't get me wrong. I'm pullin' for Pujol! I hope we see a sharp upturn in talent. The kid from Hoover was a great change in recent recruiting. Let's hope we hang onto him and add some more who averaged more than the usual 4 points and 2 rebounds at their previous gig! Haha

I don’t see any problem with analyzing a hire and giving your opinion, good or bad. As long as you can debate with facts and can accept when you’re wrong. I think a lot of us paid attention to Anthony Grant’s lackluster stint at Bama and just don’t want to see the same here. Pujol mentored under that guy for quite a while. But then you look at Wyoming, and this year I think they were something like 42nd in the country in points per game, and were pretty horrible defensively (in the 300s). You just never know how these things are gonna go.
I think I can speak for all of us when I say I want the guy to either retire here or leave us for a major-conference team down the road. Because either way, it will mean he was really good.

I would like to see at least 10 years, then if he goes to a major conference school, I'm good as long as it's a traditional blue blood like Duke, Kansas and so on. Leaving to take a job in the A-10 or West Coast conference would upset me, I would wish the best, the reason it would upset me is that means UNA is not pulling their weight.

So, in the time since the hire, I have some opinions and some facts.
My opinion, he may be here for a long time, and this opinion is based in some fact.
He is in his 50's, 10 years in the state retirement system and he is vested, meaning he has a guaranteed retirement. So he would stay until at least his 60's if he is interested in retirement.
He has an opportunity to put his mark in college basketball history by staying (if he is successful at all) by taking a very much dormant D2 program to being a successful D1 program. From what I am beginning told, that is his goal.
I have also heard that while he was at Alabama, he would come to Florence on recruiting trips and fell in love with the area back then. (All this part is hearsay) and has said that he would love to coach here someday.
Another fact, he wants to build a program with his players..... He is not going to recruit a couple of years worth of good D1 high school players and walk away for just a little more money in (most likely) a place with a higher cost of living. If he was all about moving on up (not to say a "Blue Blood" offered he wouldn't go) he would just be filling spots with transfers as much as possible. (Tater Tot)
Let me know what y'all think. I like him, and remember, he just made our team extremely young, let's give him some leeway.

All-Star Games, Strong List of Speakers Highlight 22st AHSAA Summer Conference This Week Among the speakers set to address the basketball coaches on Wednesday are college coaches: Auburn University’s Bruce Pearl, University of Alabama’s Avery Johnson, LSU Coach Will Wade, Georgia Coach Tom Crean, North Alabama Coach Tony Pujol, South Alabama Coach Terry Fowler and West Florida Coach Jeff Burkhamer, as well as several top high school coaches from across the state.
I like how he is really out there in the public, getting that UNA name out there!
