hoopdirt.com/north-alabama-search-update-ii/The four names that I’ve heard that have advanced are: Larry Cordaro – head coach LSU Alexandria (also interviewed at Nicholls State) Philip Pearson – former associate head coach Alabama Tony Pujol – assistant coach Wyoming James Strong – assistant coach Belmont. There may be one more in this group as well. It sounds like UNA will offer at least a five-year deal in the $150,000/yr. range. A decision could be made here shortly.

I'm impressed they are bumping up from 90k to 150k.

Cordaro still in the running:
Nicholls State will promote Austin Claunch to head coach replacing his former boss Richie Riley who became the head coach at South Alabama earlier this month. Claunch beat out Houston assistant Quannas White, LSU-Alexandria head coach Larry Cordaro, and two junior college head coaches for the job.

I'm impressed they are bumping up from 90k to 150k. Agreed. It's nice to see a sport outside of football get this kind of support. Obviously we are all biased, but more and more I feel like this is the perfect setup for a guy to come in and start with a blank slate and really build something special. We will never forget the things accomplished in D2, but with the Flowers Hall renovation, the new arena hopefully on the horizon, and everything else associated with the move to D1, the differences in the program before and after the move ("BD1 and AD1"?) will be even more visible. I wonder if looking at teams like Maryland-Baltimore County and especially Loyola-Chicago has inspired some folks in the AD, even a little, to believe that we don't have to be a bottom-feeder?

The 150k Mark is interesting to me, I would have thought, 100k during the first year or two of the transition, and 3rd year 125k +-, year 4 150k. But starting off with 150k during the transition? I'm not complaining, I just wonder, is the pay going up after the transition?
Buy the way, whoever they hire, the whole safety net through the transition is looking better, new coach needs a few years to build his system in a new place, especially a new D1 program. I kinda feel like the 150k Mark now is an indication that UNA is making a strong push to be the top (at least paying) school in basketball in the A-Sun. I'm not sure what the rest of the schools pay, but I think I read somewhere that North Florida pays 190k. But 150k in a transitional program is substantial in my opinion. That's up 60k from previous years in D2, maybe, after the transition is over, and New Coach has had relative success, it can go to around the 200k Mark, granted, but will have to be in seats.

First off, whats the cost of living difference between Florence Alabama and Naples, and Jacksonville Florida?
I know I could go to work in my job for 2x the money in Miami, but I would not be able to live in as big of a house (and mine is small here) and could not save as much money as I could possibly here. So, what would 150k be the equivalent to?

So, what would 150k be the equivalent to? It's amazing how rarely that truth is used when discussing pay differences around the country. Several years ago I was chatting with an employee from San Diego. I made the mistake of complaining about the high cost of living in Nashville. She said she couldn't believe how low it was here. In SD a decent 2 bedroom house costs almost a million dollars. I didn't complain anymore. I'm sure your dollar goes farther in Jacksonville or Naples but not anywhere near as far as it goes in the Shoals.

Oh, it absolutely does. But I've never heard someone say, ya know Nick Saban actually makes more because of the Cost of Living in Tuscaloosa. hah I did look up the differences, though. Naples is 47% more expensive than Florence. So, $150K in Florence would have to be $220K in Naples. Surprisingly, it says Jville is only 9% more expensive than Florence. www.bestplaces.net/cost-of-living/florence-al/jacksonville-fl/150000

According to that site, a salary of $350,000 in Naples could decrease to $237,731 in Florence.
