We knew the men were going to end like this but the women? Wow. It was hard to watch.
I've watched years of sports and it still baffles me that a team can beat one team so badly and then lose to them 5 days later.
UWA was pissed off. I get that. It was definitely back yard ball.
Maybe it shocked our players into practicing hard for the NCAA tournament.

The Women just had a off night. Just sucks it happened when it did. They should do better in the Tournament that counts.

It's terrible and I don't Linder cares. It may be time to start directing our disappointment (about Bobby and Linder) to Kitts. I have caught wind that something may be in the works, he will still be there, just a different job. Not 100% on this, but I was reading between the lines, so to speak. You could be correct about 3 weeks ago there was a National Posting for a complete New Position within the Athletic Department. (As I read it, to be in charge of all Athletic facilities including spirit hill at Braly.)

It seems like Tiber is trying to ride the coattails of the good triplets into getting a long term deal or better job altogether. If you ask me, both coaches are mediocre and aren’t ready to make that plundge into D1 competition

If you ask me, both coaches are mediocre and aren’t ready to make that plundge into D1 competition In my opinion, the only thing good that has happen since she has been here was the signing of the triplets. Can she Coach D1 Just look at her record at her previous D1 school Southern Illinois 19 - 86. Below is the posting when she resigned at Southern Illinois: CARBONDALE, Ill.- Southern Illinois University Director of Athletics Mario Moccia announced on Monday the resignation of Saluki head women's basketball coach Missy Tiber. Assistant coach Adrianne Harlow will serve as the team's interim coach for the remainder of the season. Harlow has been an assistant under Tiber for the past 12 seasons at SIU, Tusculum College, and Belmont Abbey College. Midway through Tiber's fourth year at the helm, the Salukis are 4-12 overall and 1-4 in the Missouri Valley Conference. Tiber ends her tenure at Southern with a 19-86 overall record (.181), including a 9-50 mark (.153) in MVC play. Prior to SIU, Tiber compiled a 167-70 record (.705) in eight seasons as a head coach at Tusculum (2005-09) and Belmont Abbey (2001-05).

Sometimes it's the School itself. But I agree, she may need to go as well.

So a juco coach can keep them near .500 but she couldnt ever get them over the .200 mark. When the girls win it’s always that they followed the game plan and did what she told them to do, but when they lose it’s always that they couldn’t get anything going or didn’t follow the gameplan. The girls Tuesday could never get a good press on West Alabama... almost as if they hadn’t practiced it much

But if you’ve ever paid close attention, neither coaches can retain key players on their rosters for the next season. Mostly the men’s team

What a foreboding statement....
Now the Lions turn their attention to Division I and the ASUN Conference.
“We have to get ready for the next level now,” Champagne said. “I watched some ASUN games the other night and it is hard to get a feel for the league, but I know it is going to be tough. God help us.

Every year it seems like he changes his offense to fit the players he has, but every year he has to also recruit for a new team

Here’s a crazy idea. Heck, maybe TOO crazy, but we once hired Terry Bowden, so...
Mark Gottfried is currently unemployed. Could we persuade him to come here?
He knows this state, and was always a great recruiter, if not maybe the best Xs and Os guy. Maybe he would be interested in jump-starting a D1 program. He’s still relatively young, and I would have no doubts that he would use us to springboard back to a major job in a few years. But perhaps it could be a mutually beneficial situation.
The downside is I’ve heard he has some... shall we say, indiscretions in the past. But I’ve heard rumors about some of our own past coaches...
I have no idea if Mark is already doing something somewhere or even plans to come back to coaching. But at the VERY LEAST, if I were AD, I’d have a conversation with him.

With the hiring of Gottfried, it could also possibly bring us a bit of exposure. It would definitely bring some buzz around college basketball and 100% here at UNA.

Linder is all about the business side of UNA Athletics, he’s got to understand that that move could spark a significant revenue increase in the ticket sales, but he’s got to find another head coach or else basketball won’t be able to sustain themselves on their own budget

A Gottfried-type hire would absolutely increase ticket sales, I believe. And something important to remember is, this team can’t compete for a championship for what, four years? Or at least an NCAA tournament bid. So you’re asking potential recruits to come into a program that has fans who are anywhere from dissatisfied to apathetic because of the last few years. On top of that, they’ll spend their career possibly on the wrong side of the scoreboard more often that not, but even if they do manage to beat the odds and win more games than they lose, they won’t be truly rewarded as others would. THAT’S a tough sell for any coach, let alone one that has almost zero fan support at this point.
So yes, now more than ever you need a “name” that kids might know, a charismatic guy that can somehow convince good talent to come here despite the rocky stretch the next few years could be. If the current coach hasn’t been able to do that very well in almost a decade now, it’s foolish to think he can start doing it in the next 4+ years.
