It's just time....
He has the talent on the team, but his coaching sucks, period.

I'm thinking we're stuck with Champagne and all coaches for a few years through this transition unless they get better jobs elsewhere.
But, if he coached football he'd have been fired years ago.

I get that football is the breadwinner, but we have great tradition in basketball. We need to act like it. One Elite Eight doesn’t make up for the 8+ years of mediocrity that have followed it.

Heck, mediocrity is a stretch.

The fact is...he's likable. He's been in the Shoals a while, has his camps, HS coaches know and (from what I gather) like and respect him. Correct me if I'm wrong here.
I think the powers that be simply like him and don't want to push him out the door.
I've enjoyed watching some of his teams but not making the conference tournament is unacceptable.

I have worked with people I like before, but they still didn't know, or didn't care enough to get the job done, had to let them go (or push them out). But I guess the difference is, nobody's life is on the line with him....... Time to cut ties, or the men's program is dead.

What about the transition agreements that the administration agree to, when did they start and when do they end. Did they start back in December 2016 the day the D1 invite was accepted. Is so they probably can’t be broken for any reason.

Look at the long struggle JSU has gone through in basketball. We need to get started on an upward instead of downward course as soon as possible or I probably won't be alive to see any improvement. If we wait and have a couple more disastrous seasons, it could take a couple of decades to repair the extensive damage.
