Today started the early signing period for college football. How many can UNA expect to sign?

Read Coach Willis’ comments in the TD this morning. He sounded a little frustrated. He specifically mentioned wanting a quarterback, and just more players overall. Of course the period doesn’t end until Friday, and a transfer could still show up before the spring semester starts.
I don’t really like the early signing period idea. I wonder if some of the guys we target will want to wait until February, in case a bigger school comes calling late. That could really force the coaches into making some difficult decisions. Of course, that’s a problem almost every school not named Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, etc. could face.

Unfortunately, anyone with any kind of "D1 talent" will wait to see if a Alabama or Ohio State will come calling. That's just to be expected. You just hope to get some great talent that has not necessarily shown to the full extent. Development is the key at this level. Let's see how that works out.

Yeah, I mean, I know there are some kids out there that will always be hoping for something better. I just meant that it has to be frustrating for the coaches, because if a kid that is, say, #3 on their board at a certain position will commit and sign on December 21st, but the kid that is their #1 says he might choose to come in February... what should they do? I lean towards taking the kid that definitely wants to come, but we know a few game-changers at key positions can make all the difference between a 7-3 team and one that goes undefeated. Recruiting just seems like an incredibly difficult part of the profession. I'm not sure I'd have the patience to deal with 18 year olds that are constantly yanking you around.
