Just thought I'd start a thread on this topic. If you read the VSU thread, it turned into somthing I think should be separate.
As stated, the A-Sun will do everything possible to keep Kennesaw State happy and not want to leave, I also think they are going to do their best to keep UNA.
I think they are going to try to keep the Big South (football) stable as well. So taking all that in, who gets invites?
List of possible schools with football
FCS-- Jacksonville U. Will they upgrade? Stetson- I think will upgrade, substantially better football facilities. Jacksonville St. I don't think they would leave the OVC unless the Sun Belt invites them. Or the Southern Conference.
D2 possibly UWF- I think they are coming. Just a bunch. UWG- would be nice for Kennesaw, nice rivalry just up the road. VSU- always saying they are staying D2, after their biggest rival and UWG possibly going, look for VSU to jump in a instant.
I honestly believe all of the above D2 schools will be in the A-Sun in the next few years. But I think it will start with UWF. They have a great master plan for Facilities and if you look at it, they don't plan on being in D2 much longer.
Future Big South football UNA KSU Charleston Southern Gardner Webb Presbyterian Campbell VSU UWF UWG *Monmouth* *could be gone in a year or two. Stetson
That would be 10-11 schools for football. 10 would be ideal.

I'm sticking to the comments I made in the VSU thread. I do agree that those 3 GSC schools that you mention will eventually move up. Also Nova Southeastern will get an invite. I think the key for them keeping Kennesaw State is not West Georgia, but that School on the eastern Alabama border.
I believe that the football deal with the Big South will be temporary that is until the ASUN has enough football playing members to be an AQ Football Conference. It might be 10 years or even more before they do. Florida Gulf Coast did look at football a few years back and I heard that they are relooking again. If we can stay in the ASUN that should help the football on recruiting in the State of Florida.
The question is now long will Lipscomb and NJIT be members of the ASUN.

I don't think JSU will move unless it's for the SOCON or Sun Belt......
I have seen were FGCU was looking before, but they believe they have to grow enrollment to an (my words) unrealistic number.
Have also read were USC Upstate is considering football.
I don't think we lose Lipscom, but NJIT will leave asap.
I have heard the rumors (not on message boards) that a current FCS D1 school has been considering the A-Sun since the deal with the Big South has happened. But I have no idea who it is. My guess would be a CAA school, maybe a Southland school, I don't know but I figure it's a school from a crowded conference.
