First, let's appreciate the little rivalry UNA and VSU has had over the years. This will be likely the last time we meet on a regular basis. Historically UNA, VSU, and DSU (the Big 3) have battled for conference championships and often meeting in the playoffs. Please share your most memorable games or moments between UNA and VSU.
Now for this year.
VSU got thumped in week 1. UNA lost a close game to number 5 at the time.
UNA travels to play a VSU team that will want to prove that week 1 was a mistake. UNA will want to prove that their week one loss was not the way they want to play ball. This game will not be close. My prediction is
UNA 42 VSU 13

I really wish Valdosta would make plans to "move on up". They have been our biggest rival for the last 25 years or so, and that's nothing to sneeze at. As much as I like to say I hate Jacksonville State, I never really *experienced* that rivalry. VSU has been that constant thorn in our side and an arguably equal winning tradition over the last quarter-century. It's unfortunate that West Georgia will likely make the move one day instead of the Blazers.
As for the game - VSU looks to be quite a bit weaker this year. I see maybe a 35-17 final.

I think Valdosta will soon seriously think about it. There is no doubt in my mind that the A-Sun is or is going to be talking to VSU to join. They are tight in the footprint of the conference. And I still believe that the conference is going to do every posspossible thing they can do to keep Kennesaw happy. And I must say they will be trying to keep us happy too, but Kennesaw is a huge market. I only remember a couple of JSU games, it was to this day the best atmosphere I have ever been around. Packed houses, loud, very loud. I have been to my share of SEC games over the past 20 years, and outside of LSU, I have never been to a louder stadium than Braly when it's rocking. When we build a new stadium, it needs to be as close as Braly is to the field. As far as hate, I have never hated VSU, it's more of a respect rivalry. We don't hate JSU now, they have been one of our biggest advocates in going to D1. But we used too........ Kennesaw will likely become a big rivalry for UNA, not a bad drive for a conference game, both will likely be in the hunt for Big South championships, both are in both conferences. Kinda a default rivalry. They are a new program, they don't have a real natural rival, except for us. The GSC moving to D1- I think in a couple of years, VSU, UWF, UWG, and UAH will join us in the A-Sun, I don't know what will happen with the rest, but they will find something.

You are correct the ASUN needs to do everything they can to keep Kennesaw State. If a team leaves the OVC, possibility the first choice by the OVC for a replacement would be Kennesaw State. Also if an opening came up in the FBS SunBelt Kennesaw State would be among the top candidates. The ASUN needs to start football within the next few years and also to help keep Kennesaw State they need to invite Jacksonville State.
