Just read that Liberty go a waiver to move football to FBS as a independent. Kinda sucks for UNA, in my opinion, that would have been a huge game every year for us. But oh well, I guess.
That being said, who would replace them. I am figuring that the Big South will keep them for other sports, and the A-Sun will be looking for a 10th member and will more than likely have football........ (UWF,UWG,"JSU") or encourage Jacksonville or Stetson or both to have scholarship football.
I think with what is going on, especially after this, maybe the Big South should let go of all their non-football schools and take in all the A-Sun football schools. Just swap around and be done.
If that happened, the Big South Conference would look like this
UNA Charleston Southern Campbell Kennesaw State Presbyterian Gardner Webb Jacksonville University (if they add scholarships) Stetson (if they add scholarships)
Then I would add both UWG and UWF.
Then try to add JSU

I'm pretty surprised by this. I guess I had read the rumors but didn't think it would happen so soon.
I doubt Jacksonville adds scholarships. That is why Bell left so they must be pretty solid in that decision.

Wow. Wonder why the NCAA approved the waiver? I thought you had to go to a conference to move up.

I think we should just make the best out of the situation, we will have the Biggest stadium in the Big South, arguably the biggest fan base, and the best traditions. We could become the face of Big South football. With the A-Sun at 9, I think the A-Sun will try to go to 10 and invite UWF or possibly Florida Tech. Odds are UWF. I think we can be at the top of the Big South out of the gate and that will help other sports along the way. Although I would have loved to play Liberty yearly, it is what it is. I kinda hope this will eventually force Monmouth into seeking another conference for football.

I guess the A-Sun could also go after UNC - PEMBROKE or Limestone too. Who else would be candidates?

As for the A-Sun, UAH is more in their footprint than we are. Since they don't have football, the Chargers would be an easy fit. Not having the huge expense of football, they should be more than able to make the move with ease.

I kinda get the impression that that is an agreement between the A-Sun and Big South. But I like the idea of UAH, but I'm not sure Tuscaloosa would let it happen.

I got to thinking about Liberty leaving the Big South in football, and there may be a silver lining in this for UNA. Maybe this can be a reason the Big South considers letting UNA go ahead and compete for conference championships as soon as possible, LU got a waiver to go to FBS, maybe we can get a waiver to compete for conference championships. We can in the A-Sun. Also, there will be vacancies on all the Big South schools schedules foe the 2018 season, we could slip in as an Independent and take those games and make scheduling a breeze.

Wow. Wonder why the NCAA approved the waiver? I thought you had to go to a conference to move up. I'm sorry n I read this wrong with my comment on this. All I can figure is that their legal team used the fact that it seems like the only reason a conference hasn't extended an invite was because of their religious aspects. I still don't think they get an invite any time soon. They may be regretting the move before long. They think they are going to have a rivalry with Notre Dame in football. They also mention playing BYU and so forth. I think they will be bad disappointed.

I have NO ideal on what Liberty said to the NCAA. They would have probably been in the Sun Belt if they hadn't try to buy themselves in.
Their approach to the Sun Belt was tell us what it would take to get in the conference if we don't have it we build it regardless of cost.

I don't think the Sun Belt crossed their minds. That's the way it seems.
