How close was it to the North Alabama billboard? I will be visiting clients in Huntsville next week. Interesting, but why not? Huntsville has the population growth. I do not think North Alabama has advertised in Huntsville. I talked with a student at UAH and said their main problem is student life. He said we do not have a football team or band, there isn’t a lot of student activities to keep kids on campus. He said most of the student population commutes.

Kinda OT but kinda not? Someone mentioned that when the OVC partnership with the Southland for football was announced, all OVC schools put it on their websites except for Tenn Tech and SEMO... Im not saying it means anything, but I know at some point, both have been mentioned as possible ASUN schools.... Under kinda OT but kinda not; yesterday I was driving east on US 72 between Madison and Huntsville and saw a billboard advertising Tennessee Tech. That is new for this neck of the woods. I saw that as well...

UNA has been advertising in Huntsville and Madison mostly at the baseball stadium. But I have seen signs here and there.

Yes I meant to say advertised enough. I see an occasional billboard. Think we should have at least 3 billboards in Huntsville, Madison area. You have I65, 565, and 72 as great opportunities that are well traveled.

Speaking of advertising, I was told that the ASUN is working out media deals with regional TV to broadcast ASUN sports where and around conference members areas.
It will be on local channels in addition to ESPN+ and are trying to get a certain number of games on ESPNU.
Plans are to have a pregame show similar to College GameDay on ESPN+ then have a double header on local channels and the normal ESPN+ broadcast.

I've also been looking into SEMO, they have just started tearing down their football stadium and building a nice new one in its place. I think they may be the next full member in the ASUN, or the OVC may have schools in place to backfill such as Western Illinois. But I don't think the ASUN is worried about pulling more OVC schools, especially with football, SEMO, Tenn Tech and Murray (Football only) are the most logical moves to the ASUN at this time, Tennessee Tech is also planning a major renovation to their football stadium from what I've been told.
I personally hope the OVC can survive, maybe they can pull in both Western Illinois and Grand Valley State and maybe another D2 school or two.

It would not surprise me if UNA has a sign on 72 in Huntsville but, if there, I haven't stumbled on it yet. I have seen, in other areas of Huntsville, UNA billboards. The Tenn Tech board was touting their engineering school. I thought that was pretty strong considering it is going at UAH's biggest source of pride.

It may have been a couple of years ago now, but I think it was out around the Mooresville exit. Of course, if that's the ONLY one that we've had, and don't currently have one, that's not good at all.

Based on what I heard on the Murray BOR/BOT meeting football applied for MVFC membership for 2023. Their backup plan sounded to be the Southland for football. So 2022 will be OVC.

Upon unanimous support from the Missouri Valley Football Conference (MVFC) board of presidents – a separate stand-alone, football-only conference – Murray State and MVFC officials are actively engaged in the membership process, which officially began immediately upon receipt of the MVC invitation.

So, the JSU folks are saying they are about to release their fall football schedule and some have seen it. One poster is saying that (unless it's a clerical error) SE Lousiana is listed as being an ASUN game for them.

Busy day today. The CAA will have a press conference and likely announce that Hampton and Monmouth (along with Stony Brook) are joining. I've read that they could possibly be members for the 2022 season. If so, that leaves the Big South with only five teams this fall. NOT good for them.
Another rumor is that due to some of the dominoes falling in the midwest, the Horizon league may be looking at Bellarmine as a replacement for Illinois-Chicago, who is likely moving to the Missouri Valley. I would hate to lose Bellarmine, since I really want ASUN basketball to improve long-term. But that league would make more geographic sense for them.
It will be really interesting to see what happens with Big South football. Will they try to add affiliates or members from somewhere else? Or do they call Ted Gumbart and call in the favor they extended to us and Kennesaw, and ask to affiliate with our football teams?
The Big South really only has "expansion options" in the MEAC schools. But if any more MEAC teams leave for the BSC, that puts the MEAC themselves under the threshold for an autobid. Plus, if you're the Big South, do you run the risk of the media claiming you were the ones to "kill" an HBCU conference (if the MEAC disbanded)?
I personally get the feeling we will end up taking in at least the 4 Big South teams from the Carolinas as affiliates. Robert Morris? Who knows.
