I’m hearing that the Sunbelt doesn’t want to be a part of a big upcoming lawsuit against Liberty by their former President Jerry Falwell JR. Liberty has turn down CUSA.
So I assume that Liberty is staying Independent in football and keeping the other sports in the ASUN.
Also hearing that McNeese has contacted CUSA and that The Conference has reached out to Sam Houston State and Tarleton. State. CUSA Commissioner in a Public Statement said that She has reached out to several FCS schools and will continue to do so.

I could see Liberty joint ACC eventually…seems like a natural fit. Feel sorry for announcers, can’t imagine how many times a team will be stated in conference x…but oh wait thats right they are now in conference y. So much for rivalries? I am so excited we play JSU each year. Guess maybe that is part of the problem? Many of these games really don’t mean much to the fans or institutions. We feel here it too. JSU week is different. If we ever beat KSU maybe that could be another rivalry in the making?

Marshall is officially joining the Sun Belt, so that leaves C-USA with only five. They must have eight teams to remain an FBS conference, so even if they manage to get Liberty and New Mexico State to join, they will likely still need at least one FCS team to make the move up. And that's if Western Kentucky and Middle Tennessee State don't manage to convince the MAC to let them join.
I will be pretty sad if the ASUN football loses a school, or multiple schools, before we ever play our first season.

I don't know why nobody goes after Army... I agree. Surely they are on the radar somewhere. Maybe not. It’s odd.

I don't know why nobody goes after Army... Army was in Conference USA from 1998-2004.

Okay, I’m bored. And since this is a message board, I’m gonna share some rumors.
The first one I read on another forum saying they got it from the Jax State forum. So, who knows? It’s that the ASUN will soon invite SE LA and Tenn Tech.
Also, remember this tweet from September?
Well, three of those (not hearing LMU) could be invited to the ASUN “in the near future.”
So, again, who knows? But, it’s kinda exciting to ponder!

Well, three of those (not hearing LMU) could be invited to the ASUN “in the near future.” So, again, who knows? But, it’s kinda exciting to ponder! I’m addicted to this stuff lately! I think Tech is almost a sure bet. I don’t think it’s a coincidence they’ve announced big money investments in their football program lately. Cookeville is a neat town and is really perfectly positioned geographically for most of the conference. It’s an easy bus trip for all except UCA. SELA fans seem to be upset about the Southland promising McNeese the moon, so I wouldn’t be surprised by that one either. I’d still love to have one or both of Valdosta and West Georgia. I miss them haha. I’m assuming we eventually want to add 3 to get to 14 (after JSU and Liberty leave), or 5 to get to 16. I think 16 is almost too big, but if most sports get split into pods I suppose it might be pretty easy on travel. Personally I think the sweet spot is to get to 8 in football. Having a schedule of 7 conference/4 non-conference games seems the most ideal. I’m also fascinated to see what the teams that are left out will do. Will Tennessee State go back to the SWAC or maybe join the Big South as an affiliate? Do teams like UT-Martin and Southeast Missouri join up with the Southland? And can’t forget about the Gulf South. They’d be in bad shape if both VSU and UWG were to leave. Would it force schools like UWF and UAH to make a move? Selfishly, I hope FBS stabilizes for a while and we don’t lose any more current ASUN teams. Well… unless we go with them!

I found it on the Jax St board and posted to the EKU board. Another of our posters took it to the CSNBBS board.

I'm gonna go with
SELA Valdosta St Tenn Tech
I'm also hearing that the OVC is thinking about dropping football.
So that means the ASUN and Southland may have football only options as well.
I still think the ASUN should be going hard after Murray State though. We need a basketball school for conference RPI.

I hope we could get Murray State for basketball for reasons like you pointed out. It looks like they could be going to the MVC. If they don’t and the ASUN gets them and a few years they get an offer from the MVC I’m thinking they might jump and go that direction.
