Can we now say we have a rival or two? I think we do.

Well for it to be a rivalry we have to beat them too. So Lipscomb is the only one we have beat recently that felt like the old UAH games in basketball- last year. They enjoy playing us in sports so them? West Georgia will have a few years to get going there, but maybe them?

I'm gonna say Lipscomb for our non basketball rival for sure... it's a fun atmosphere in Flowers when they come to town, and they bring some fans with them.
I'm going to try to make it to Nashville more often when we are up there.
I'm gonna have to go with Austin Peay for all sports... they brought a lot more than I thought to the last home basketball game. They was into it as well. We took a lot to the football game up there. I would like to see that football game remind us of the Texas Oklahoma game with one color on one side and the other on the other. I don't think it will take long and that will be our most important conference rival.
Was talking to an old friend of mine who is a UAB and UNA alum, he is a big supporter of UAB athletics but he also give when he can to UNA... his opinion, we got to get over JSU as our rival... We will not grow if we are worried just about getting games with them. He actually said that their fans don't consider anyone in state a true rivalry with them and he got to talking to some of their people during the softball tournament and they was more worried about beating UNA in the tournament than anyone. He thinks there is huge potential for a natural rivalry between UNA and UAB. He understands the football side wouldn't be much but all other sports, especially basketball could turn into something big. He also mentioned playing football every year probably wouldn't be bad if UNA somehow made it to FBS in the future. I know I wouldn't mind UAB being a permanent game on the scheduled.

When you come right down to it, Jax has not been a true rival for 30 years. I'd much prefer competition with UAB and I agree there is a huge potential for a natural rivalry.

Another UAB person said the same thing to me... I was at Mugshots and a couple of UAB peaple came in (don't know thier affiliation with UAB) but the came to watch the beach volleyball match.
One saw the UNA stuff on me and asked the normal questions that always seem to stem around Alabama or Auburn and was shocked when I said neither. (He's the same way)
He then said he wants to see UNA and UAB in every sport every year. He went as far to say there is no reason we can't play a yearly football game in Huntsville just to keep it fair to UNA (renovated Joe Davis) but we know that won't happen. But we both know basketball, baseball and softball could be huge.
Knowing that their fans feel this way, I think it's about to take off.

My step son is a senior at UNA...
He also interns under Benjamin Ray and helps with cameras and sound on the ESPN+ broadcast.
He surprised me by his answer.
His opinion is that Lipscomb is our biggest conference rival and that's an easy one.
He got to asking around the peaple he interns with, the Athletic department, even athletes and wrote down his findings.
Lipscomb took the 1 spot.
After that it was a tie between APSU and UCA for the 2 spot.
Another tie for 3rd in FGCU and EKU.
He also mentioned that he has been hearing that we are trying to make UNA and UAB a yearly series in all sports (football the exception obviously) and they want that to be our overall #1 rivalry going forward.
