A big win at Valdosta during the 1993 season. The full video starts late in the 2nd Qtr. I've got this clip cued for the big play by the Purple Swarm near the end of the game against Chris Hatcher as QB for the Blazers.

The best 5 minutes of UNA football history. The Lions score 27 points in the 4th Qtr to win the first natty. I was in the band and this crowd was amazing.
A cool IUP video of the game including their "Mud Bowl" semifinal with North Dakota!

That '93 game was something else. My dad and I (I was 10) had went to the championship game the year before, which I think JSU played in, but for some reason he didn't get us tickets in '93. So we watched the game on ESPN and hated we missed out.
In '94 we had tickets, and almost wished we didn't with all the rain haha. We ran onto the field after the game was over, slipping in the mud and high-fiving the players. That's an experience you never forget.

I was on the sideline in all three UNA games... my dad was a firefighter for Florence and they had to help with security. So my dad would wake me up at like 4am, take me to the station, get a fire engine ready, wait on the other that was going and I would get to ride the firetruck to the stadium, park by the locker rooms, stand on the sidelines and eat free food...
I was 10 then as well. (Can't believe it's been 30 years....
Dixie is a place, its home, nothing more nothing less.

We are due to have some awesome football teams again. Coaching hasn’t been special in awhile. We had some good coaches just not quite to that level. I am looking forward to seeing us get back to that level in conference where everyone wanted to beat North Alabama. We are currently at the level where everyone expects to beat North Alabama, that has to change.
Today, I ran across video of the first-ever televised game in Braly Stadium. It's the 1980 D2 semifinals broadcast on ABC with #3 UNA hosting top-ranked Eastern Illinois for a chance to advance to the D2 title game in Albuquerque. I haven't watched it all but thought I'd share it here. UNA scored on the second play of the game but EIU took control in the second half. I do know they show a lot of the band at the beginning of both videos. Vintage D2!

I wish our end zones today had the purple and gold checkered end zones that they had in these videos.
Y'all know me and my crusade to bring back the gold... but man, I really do love that uniform combo there. This year's set was pretty good, but would be even better if we'd throw in some gold pants/helmets at least every now and then. I agree about the endzones, as well! Can't wait for the new stadium when we can FINALLY have some names and logos on the field.
As a Florence native, it's fun to see some videos of the stadium from before I was even born. Great find!
