I'm sure Lennie Acuff and Lipscomb was at home watching UNA lay an egg, saying to themselves: "We could've beaten Southern Utah if the CBI invited us."

Not sure if the return on investment will be there for the $30k spent to enter this tournament. I wouldn’t have done it, if it were up to me. And I promise I would’ve said the same before yesterday. Would’ve rather put that towards a football stadium. Or if it has to be basketball, towards more upgrades for Flowers. Oh well. [br Agree. The way our season and conference tournament ended, wouldn’t have thought postseason. Maybe Southern Utah will win the whole thing and our blowout will look much better?

UNA athletics boasting on twitter about the men’s basketball season…..looks like we are pretty happy with the season overall.

Relative to the rest of our years in D1, it was a “good” season. That being said, I would hope there’s not too much patting on the back when it comes to the staff and players, especially when it comes to the last 4 games. Our goals should definitely be higher than a winning record and buying ourselves into a postseason tournament that gets little coverage.
Hopefully, if nothing else, we can one day look back at this year as the beginning of a run of really good basketball.

Ortiz is in portal. Hoping Lane isn’t next. UNA is likely going to be a developmental program for other schools campus wide until they address the facilities.

We need a taller Ortiz type player with a little more consistency. I liked his game, but not sure he goes anywhere bigger than us?
Aidan Kuhl has also entered the transfer portal. Agbaosi and Dawkins also entered the portal. Really not disappointed in last three, chances for us to improve our roster

Virtual every college in the country is dealing with the transfer portal... from the Alabamas, UCLAs to the UNAs and FDUs....
We just keep on keeping on...
That's all we can do until someone grows a pair and makes transferring have a drawback.

No moral victories about a first round exit in the conference tournament. Period. Really an embarrassment to the people that set the standard high for athletics at North Alabama!!

If you was a current player or being recruited, please tell what needs to be done facility wise? I’m certainly not an expert. But, in my opinion UNA is way behind most in this area. Not alot was done during the transition years, and now we have mostly D2 level facilities that make it tough for our coaches to compete for players, and more importantly retain a player they discovered, recruited, and coached into an impact player. I don’t think there is a quick fix solution, this should have been part of the strategy of going D1 (see JSU), but we have to start somewhere at some point. Maybe they should concentrate on finding guys in the portal? I would think they may be less likely to transfer to a 3rd school. If you can get them early you still have 2 or 3 years to develop them.

Our basketball facilities are fine... Better than a lot of D1 facilities. They have done major renovation and more coming. The only facilities that need major upgrades is football. And as far as players are concerned, they just got a major upgrade. The players don't give a crap about how the fans prospective is, and I've asked many recruits and commits. Softball is better than most outside of the very top of the P5. Even baseball has it better than 70% of the country. We have a great workout facility for any mid major program. Flowers Hall is above par. Although not the biggest. Softball facilities rival a lot of P5. Start doing some research.... for our budget, (yes that needs to increase) we are way above average.

I don't mean to be so defensive about the facilities issue, but it took JSU a while after them going to D1 to do a lot. And we need to stop comparing ourselves to schools that have been in D1 for decades.
If you do comparing like that, you have to look at year by year...
I'm not going to pretend we have done all we can, but I'm also nor going to aimlessly put blame on stuff that shouldn't be.
Basketball had done a lot. And if anyone thinks it should happen sooner, it's not hard to donate.

Lots of the UNA long time fans like to tell us how things here are good enough and don’t need to change…. Guess I just need to “do more research”
