I mostly wanted to stay D2, and wasn’t shy about it. That being said, I’ve tried to support the program the best I can since the transition. I wonder, if we could have seen all the changes that have happened since the transition started - NIL, the transfer portal, all the conference shuffling - if we would have made the move. I don’t know. As Pat Dye once said, “hindsight is 50/50” (ha).
We should’ve made the move in the 90s, or the early 2000s. We maybe SHOULDN’T have made the move in 2018. But unfortunately we’re here now and I can’t stop supporting this university.

IMO, what we saw with Tennessee last night is what we've seen with UNA all season - a team that sometimes quits when the going gets too rough.
Not sure if it ain't a generational thing, since I see very similar behavior with our local high school football team. Kids these days seem to have an "I quit!" mentality when a challenge grows too great.

On a different (but I think similar note) it's kinda like a defense letting the other team score in certain situations so you have the ball with a chance to win... How about, don't let them score... It may be a strategy, but when I played, if someone would suggest to my coach to let them score, half the team would have been hit with a Gatorade jug...lol

Worst season since 1971, where we went 1-10 and Durrell Mock was our coach. Jesus Christ. I’m not gonna try to sugar coat this turd lol but…I think UNA and Kennesaw State had a rude awakening transitioning from the Big South to the ASUN. The Owls just finished their season 5-6 (1-4). Heck, even the three that split the title were 3-2. Only Jax State, with their extra scholarships, was undefeated in ASUN games. Yuck. I think Monmouth and Hampton is getting that same awakening... And what happened to Campbell? I thought they was the next big thing with their so called best recruiting class and money...

But unfortunately we’re here now and I can’t stop supporting this university. I was a big proponent of staying D2. However, now after NIL and the portal, I don’t see how anyone would want to be in D2. With the portal, D1 players no longer have any incentive to transfer for D2. They no longer have to sit out a year. NIL complicated things even more with FCS and definitely D2 being left behind even more by the rich FBS schools. At this point in college football in the south, it’s either jump on board or be left behind. No one outside of small towns cares about D2 titles of any kind. That’s the harsh reality I think we no live in. Again, I mentioned the south. I do think FCS/D2 up north and out west do fine. Down here, completely off the radar. UNA and D2s like UWF have to find a way to overcome those issues.

UNA and D2s like UWF have to find a way to overcome those issues. Yeah, I can’t argue with any of that. I think my frustration lies mostly with our fan base and our administration. Everybody on this board cares deeply about UNA, but I’m irritated with the lack of interest in the Shoals. I think you’ve said it yourself, look at social media for instance and see just how little anybody interacts with our accounts. Drive around the Shoals and see the lack of UNA apparel or merchandise - though the university has some blame on this too. I just got back from Florence and didn’t see anything with the new logos in any local store. How is that possible? Maybe they know that nobody wants to buy it due to the lack of GOLD, but I digress (I’m kidding… maybe). Then of course there’s the complete dropping of the ball on the stadium, but I won’t rehash that. Even though I would’ve been satisfied staying in D2 (or maybe think I would have), I don’t want us to move back or anything like that, not that we would. I just want the university to do everything it takes to be successful.
