Here is how the Lions have fared in the first season of ASUN conference standings in our fall sports. If you have a weak stomach you may want to stop here and not read any further.
Women’s Soccer North Alabama 12 out of 14 teams. Did not make tourney. Women’s Volleyball North Alabama 12 out of 14 teams. Not the consistency we hoped for from our women’s fall sports. Cross country tournament coming up. North Alabama Football 0-3 in conference for last place of 6th. Points For North Alabama leads the conference at 118 through 3 games, almost 40 points a game. Impressive. Points Against North Alabama also leads the league with 143 in the wrong direction. Not so impressive. Giving up almost 48 points a game in conference play is the recipe for 0-3 start.

Cross Country seems to be UNA's best fall sport this year.

Men's Golf isn't a fall sport per se but they are playing a fall schedule now. They've won two tournaments. Easily the best-performing program at UNA this fall.

I didn’t realize the golf team was playing real matches, seemed like exhibition tournaments for upcoming season. Men’s golf had some impressive outing for sure.

Our D2 squad didn’t play much in the fall but D1 has a split season and all are real events. Out of five tournaments this fall, they won two and placed second in another. Definitely impressive.

Soccer got off to a hot start. What happened? Was it purely just bad competition at the start of the season? I'll plead ignorance here, as I don't know how good of a conference the ASUN is in soccer.
Volleyball was a similar story. At least we have a new coach there. I'm willing to wait a couple of years to see what happens there.
I'm happy to see improvement in golf. Definitely a sport we can compete for championships in.
It's interesting to me that in a lot of these sports we were better at the start of the transition. I think it goes to show that you can pull in a lot of talented kids at the D2 level, but when you start recruiting kids that have other D1 options, you have to be able to compete on facilities, coaching, and now NIL. I'm not saying it's purely a talent issue, but we have no doubt lost kids that look at our current situation and know they can do better.
I wonder, IF a football stadium ever gets built, what is the plan for soccer? Just have them play there?

Soccer finished 5-8-5 overall and 2-6-2 in the conference. I hate the draws. Good grief. Kick some PKs and declare a winner! Because of COVID eligibility, this team had over 10 seniors that won't be returning for next season. The good news is that our best two players are returning including the great goalie. Walker still pulls in some great players from England. What's so odd to me is, how is Jax State so terrible in women's soccer after this many years in D1?
Volleyball obviously has improved but the ASUN is a buzzsaw. Some good teams. But, the matches have been so much more competitive this season. For sure. I've watched a few here and there. I'm happy he's the coach and look forward to what he can put together for next year.
Cross Country for both teams has had a decent season. The men being regionally ranked earlier this month was pretty amazing, though. Good for them! Interestingly, UNA is hosting the D1 South CC Regional in Hunstville in a few weeks. The ASUN tournament is in Huntsville this weekend. Hope they do well!

Think JSU puts their focus on the other football. Although they got drilled last weekend….one of the few bright spots Saturday. Shocked how bad KSU defense looked.
