Thought I'd start a new thread for the first half of games for this season.
Also, CONGRATS to Skyler Gill for being a unanimous selection for the ASUN Preseason All-Conference team and being named Preseasons Defensive Player of the Year!

The Lions were ranked 6th in both the media and coaches' polls.

Three starters from last year (Suzuki, Callins, & Moore) on the bench. Three freshmen start in their place.

Best crowd of the year. Hands down!! As always.
Can we invite large groups of elementary kids every game?

Tiber looks like a lunatic frantically screaming at Callins during a timeout in front of all those kids.

Lions are lucky to be up by 2 at the half, 35-33.
Definitely the first half of real basketball this season for UNA. Christian Bros has already played MTSU in an exhibition.
Neither team could hit the broad side of a barn in that 2nd Qtr.

Gill takes over the 4th Qtr and the Lions win by 10!

Gill two early fouls and to the bench just like last game. She missed a layup and that was UNA’s best shot attempt. The size difference of the players is wild. Bulldogs up 14-0 and that’s with missing a lot of 3’s by them.

Gill is having to play with 2 fouls. She came in to help stop the bleeding. It’s 27-9 at the end of the first quarter.

The Lions have one player on the roster over 6 feet tall while State has six of them.

Miss a state leads 46-17 at the half.
Folks, that’s embarrassing. It’s looked like college vs. high school. Outmatched physically and can’t get anything going against their press and defense.

Much more of a spark to start the 3rd!! Three 3’s and State calls timeout!

I expected us to lose badly but respectfully. 17 points may be a new low…I sure I hope it is and last forever. Yuck. Guess this team still has quite a bit of work to do.
