UNA had 4 turnovers and Jax State scored 17 off them. Story of the game.
Looked like a pretty good atmosphere on TV.

Another loss.
Poetic end to a terrible football day.

4 turnovers? Should’ve redshirted Walters. We have 4 other QBs that could’ve done that.

Wow! That was fun. UNA coaching staff actually outcoached JSU. The talent gap is a large one and yet we come out of the half blazing. Nerves killed us in the first half, that our missed assignments from running backs in blocking game. We were in a suite and loud and the group below was just us loud. I have never heard the UNA section cheer so much. Hated 5 dropped the touchdown on 4th down, huge play. We got to make those plays when it is dialed up right. We have 1 running back although Lacey can definitely help, JSU had 3 running backs. Those guys didn’t go down with contact and could fly. We simply could not get pressure on their Qb, finally got pressure and the turnover. My boss asked why JSU is so much bigger? Recruited at a high level for years now and also get a ton of FBS transfers yearly. We could actually win the rest of our games. We played the two best teams in our conference well. Why couldn’t JSU drop the ball against us like they did against KSU…we could have used a fumble or two. We did catch breaks by penalties, not sure how many face masks JSU had? Glad our guys keep fighting so impressed with how hard our team fights. If we just had some linebackers that could stop the run or get through on a blitz. Customers thought JSU would destroy us, they couldn’t believe Walters and Lacey are true freshmen. This year hopefully sets you to win the conference in the future. I just hope we don’t get those guys hurt. Roar Lions!

Only good things that i'll say about this game is that we actually scored in the 2nd half, the atmosphere was good, they had Golden Mane at the game, and, in spite of my disdain for our marching band and how the name change went down, they did a good rendition of The Weeknd's "Blinding Lights"
Speaking of the marching band, JSU's Marching Southerners blew them out of the water. They were much louder and more enthusiastic than our band. They should fire Lloyd Jones as well as Chris Willis.
I'm glad that I got to see Rich Rod coach a game in person. He ran circles around Willis and this incompetent staff big time.
Walters seems like a competent QB but four TOs was fucking painful to watch.
Fuck Chris Willis

I truly believe we are about to witness a 1-10/2-9 season. This coaching staff is bad. Defensively we are REALLY bad. Held hasn’t impressed me that much either..

Kennesaw State & Indiana State were our best chances at winning a fucking D1 game this season and we fucking blew both in OT. Trust me. I am not a part of our fanbase who will only comment positive things on Facebook and get into arguments with people who are realistic.

Only lost to JSU by 17!” like cmon guys. I remember when UNA was the best program in the country. We expected to show up and whip that ass.. Haven’t seen that since 2016. Don’t tell me it’s the D1 move either. It’s the CULTURE set by the COACHING STAFF. The exact reason we always find a way to lose these close games. COACHING.

Been on vacation this week and didn’t get to watch the game. Sounds like I made the right choice not to pull the kids away from the mouse just to watch another loss.
With every loss to JSU I get more and more bitter about us allowing them (and Troy) to pass us all those years ago while we just shrugged and said, “but the championship game!” Thirty years ago all three schools were in the same position. I’ll never understand why UNA people were content to watch them achieve so much more than us. The three titles were great, but now I just wonder if they were worth it. We should’ve at least moved up in the late 90s.
The one positive about this game, other than another loss hopefully bringing us closer to a housecleaning… is that MAYBE we actually are moving towards building a stadium. I know Brandon has mentioned there seems to be a plan to move forward on it. There was an article in the TimesDaily that had Looney basically saying that we can’t continue to play in a high school stadium. ADs don’t make statements like that to the media without it being a calculated move. I’m now optimistic we’ll see it in the next five years. I just hope they don’t use that as an excuse to keep Willis.

It would be hard to get rid of him if we just beat our biggest rival. On the stadium, still haven't been told a time line... I did talk to JSUs AD at the game... He says this will not be the last time we play JSU... I asked him how would we do a home and home, he grinned and said, don't worry.

As bad as I want to beat them again, at this point we do NOT need any reason for the university to allow this coaching staff to be retained. Whether this is entirely their fault or not, the program is in the worst shape it’s been since at least the late 90s, and possibly ever. We’re probably at a disadvantage at least until a stadium gets built, but we HAVE to try something different. I said it in another thread, but if we don’t start spending money and looking like we WANT to be big-time, we’re gonna be spending a long time in a piecemeal conference playing teams in west Texas and simply hoping that Valdosta, UWF, UWG, etc. make the move up. In other words, hoping to somehow get back in the GSC of 25 years ago - just replace all the Arkansas schools with Texas ones. It makes this whole move to D1 look pretty stupid in hindsight. That opinion is probably too pessimistic, but that’s just the kind of mood I’m in today.

As much as I enjoyed seeing purple on the field and around the field….really liked having a large visitor fan base. Who knows? Maybe we still end up in the same conference again?
