I just did, too, because of your post. Didn’t realize coins were involved! Got my coins in the mail. Pretty heavy! I like them more than I thought I would based on the pics! I got them on Saturday. The Easter Bunny came early!

I drove through Florence pretty quickly last week, but noticed that the lion paws painted on Court Street - which have been purple with a white outline for as long as they've been there, I think - are now purple with the sand gold outline. Which obviously looks better, for multiple reasons, but mostly because white on a street gets dirty and looks awful.
But the point is, you have the coins, and now this. It's like the university itself doesn't even know what it wants to do! Though the paws may be done entirely by students. Perhaps it's a protest on their part to the lack of gold?

Has anyone else noticed new colors on RoarLions.com? Sand gold has now been swapped back to the older yellow gold, as we still use on the "academic logo". Personally I'd rather have sand, but any gold is better than none at all.
Honestly, I wouldn't expect this to necessarily show up on any athletic uniforms too quickly. This is probably just them "standardizing" the gold as Looney personally told me they would be doing.

I just don't understand how they have totally bungled our "brand" since moving to D1. They changed to the sand gold at the very beginning of the transition, if I remember. So then, wouldn't it make sense to stay with that color to help establish the brand that people are maybe beginning to recognize? If you DO plan to change logos, wouldn't it make sense to do that at the beginning of the transition instead of the end? Plus all the ridiculous talk about "deciding which shade of gold to use", but not making that decision until almost a full year with the new logo set has passed and you've removed every stitch of gold from the uniforms. Dumb, dumb, dumb. I fully believe this was Looney deciding to "put his own mark" on the program. Just have to wonder why the people above him didn't refuse. Or why he thinks we need to be purple and white when 3 other teams in the football conference already use that look. Hell, with the yellow gold we'll look identical to Lipscomb in the ASUN.

I know I was told they are trying to uniform the Gold among athletics and academics sides respectively. So I contacted someone and asked why the yellow gold, he was told, traditional UNA gold is the yellow gold. Also, it's a lot easier to match the color when ordering uniforms and making merchandise. This coach also said that it also plays into Championships in UNAs history. "Any time we have won or played for National Championships, we had the yellow gold. As you know, we are trying, at least in football, to get back to the tradition of UNA, so with the purple Swarm and the star helmets, the yellow gold was part of that." I prefer the Sand Gold, but something is better than nothing, and some of that does make sense, at least to me.

I hate the yellow gold because it’s yellow, not gold.

I wish we had stuck with the sand, but if we do actually see yellow gold come back to the uniforms, I'll try not to complain. Funny enough I'd say the football uniforms had the most gold trim of any sport last year. So it will be interesting to see if they get new gear in the fall. I could certainly see a redesign happening, since Dearmon seems to be pushing the throwback look.

Honestly it's a little more difficult, just because there's not a defined negative space to fill with gold. I think the best thing they could do would be a thin outline of gold around the letters, if you can imagine that. I'm heading out of the office for the day but will see what I can do tomorrow morning.

So again, I'm no expert with Photoshop. But this is what I could see the "NA" logo being if they want to add the yellow gold. I actually like this a good bit, and I have NOT been a fan of the logo overall. Amazing what some color contrast does.
