It’s just odd to me that the one game on the home schedule which could finally fill Braly again and they move it to a stadium with half the capacity an hour away.

Especially when the last home game with them was the COVID year, so a lot of people may not have gotten to go that otherwise would have. Of course, Huntsville isn't some impossible drive, but I assume there are some folks in Florence that would've went to Braly but won't go to this one. The money we can make doing this has to be better than what we'd make in Florence. Right? Unless this truly is just a middle finger to the city. I like playing in Huntsville, I just wish it wasn't THIS game.

It’s odd to me also, I just looked up the capacity of Toyota Field and it says 7,000!! Braly can hold that many on the home side alone, this makes absolutely no sense to me.

I understand all sides here, but I don’t mind it. Might try and make a weekend out of it up in Huntsville with some buddies. Playing at Braly is getting kind of embarrassing at this point IMO..

Yeah, they can add bleachers on the one sideline that's basically in the outfield, but that obstructs the view of some other seating. Or, it does at Blue Wahoos stadium when they convert to a football setup. Also, a lot of the seating (along the first-base line) ends up being endzone seating.

The saying “You don’t know what you got till it’s gone” applies here. North Alabama is letting Florence know they have other options and are not at the mercy of Florence. Florence will miss out on quite a bit of revenue from fans. Imagine how much the restaurant/bar business will miss from this one game alone? North Alabama and Jacksonville State will have the chance to expose their brand in the fastest growing city in Alabama. The news of the game alone stimulates conversations and excitement. Hopefully it will wake up Florence and help with future endeavors. At this point I am not sure if Florence has anyone with the common sense to understand the financial implications? Appears that too many of them are concerned with our little brother in Tuscaloosa….hope that’s not the case…just some rumblings I have heard.

Like with the Spring Game move, UNA is starting to implement a bit of politics. But, what are they trying to show the city if the plan is to build a stadium on campus? What’s the leverage in that scenario? I’m a bit confused on that front. But now, this alum will no longer travel to Florence for a family visit weekend to see the game and will watch it online instead. Which is fine. Otherwise, it’s fun to have a game there! I mentioned it a while back as the only true alternative option for hosting college football in the area.

I think it's marketing more than anything... Don't be surprised if we don't pay a game there every year.
I don't think it's a middle finger to Florence, i think it's more about getting our name in our biggest City.
From what I'm hearing, this is a home game for UNA and will be only UNA stuff in the stadium and on the field. (Could also see the new gold helmets, fingers crossed.)

I noticed the UNA logo on the field in the image for their press release. That's cool!! If it's truly for marketing, then they need to work hard to get the ESPN broadcast picked up regionally.

This is a smart marketing move for both UNA and Jax State. A game right at the doorstep of the state's largest city, with a large alumni base, in amongst two of state's fastest growing counties. Bring it on! Rocket Bowl🚀 or maybe Rock It Bowl🥊🥊 Let's get ready ta rumble!

I think it’s a great move, when it’s all said and done. Just hate to miss out on seeing JSU one last time in Braly (hopefully not, but you know). I’ll admit it might not be a terrible idea to start out facing JSU in this, since they’ll likely bring a decent amount of fans. It would be interesting to keep it a semi-regional game - maybe play KSU there, Chattanooga, etc.

I think it is a sign to the City of Florence that if you don't partner with UNA to help build stadium and get on board and embrace the D1 move, then more games will be moved out of Florence. Braly can't be the home venue for big time games, even if you can hold 14k. Don't be surprised when other "home" games get moved to different areas of the state in future years.
