Hey, y'all. I mentioned on that "what would you do thread" about organizing social media a bit more. I know some of you may not be on social media very much. But, if you are, it's important we participate a bit more. Well, a lot more.
The facts are that clicks matter in today's digital age. It's a way we can help at any time from any location. First and foremost, it just looks better and shows that folks are paying attention if there are a decent amount of interactions (likes, comments, and shares). But further than that, many of these social media platforms have algorithms that won't really promote certain things if they aren't interacted with by followers.
For example, North Alabama Athletics has 14K followers on Facebook. If they post something and less than 10 people like it, Facebook will only share that post with a tiny fraction of the page's followers. They want people that own these pages to have to pay to promote the post to everyone that follows the page. So, our participation could really help jumpstart some pretty lackluster online support for our Lions.
If you all are interested, I can help guide us on what pages/posts we should be following on certain platforms. We're mentioned sporadically on ASUN social media and I think those are very important. Next, would be UNA's different pages, etc.
Tell me what you're active on. UNA and the ASUN have pages on Facebook and Twitter. In what I view as an outdated method of social media, each sport also has their own pages. So, North Alabama Athletics, North Alabama Football, North Alabama Soccer, ASUN Volleyball, ASUN Softball, you get the picture. Spreads folks kinda thin, especially again, when the algorithms of those sites are only really promoting posts that have a good amount of interactions in regards to the total amount of followers.
I'm going off on a tangent, but we need to click and we need to watch. These posts and videos matter to the brand and to getting the brand in front of recruits.
